Best 80 PvP Gear Honor Points Can Buy

My intention is to make a list of good PvP gear recommendations for warlocks, gear that can be earned before playing any arena matches.

Section I : Gear Pieces

The first few pieces you should try to buy with your honor points belong to the 5-piece Hateful Gladiator Felweave set. Wearing at least 4 of these pieces will give you the set bonus that decreases the cast time of Fear by 0.2 seconds. Best way to acquire the following is from NPC Bloodguard Zar'shi in Orgrimmar: Blood Guard Zar'shi

Head: Hateful Gladiator's Felweave Cowl -> 49.6K Honor
Shoulder: Hateful Gladiator's Felweave Amice -> 31.6K Honor
Chest: Hateful Gladiator's Felweave Raiment -> 49.6K Honor
(Or) Titan-forged Raiment of Dominance (better than Hateful chest) -> 40 Wintergrasp Mark of Honor from Stone Guard Mukar
Gloves: Hateful Gladiator's Felweave Handguards-> 31.6K Honor
Legs: Hateful Gladiator's Felweave Trousers -> 49.6K Honor

Note: Above pieces are also sold in exchange of Emblem of Heroism.

Next concentrate on Deadly Gladiator's Dominance set(Salvation set gives you haste instead of crit). Best way to acquire the following is from NPC Surgeant Thunderhorn in Orgrimmar: Sergeant Thunderhorn
Neck: Deadly Gladiator's Pendant of Dominance -> 38K Honor
Back: Deadly Gladiator's Cloak of Dominance -> 38K Honor
Wrist: Deadly Gladiator's Cuffs of Dominance -> 31.6K Honor
Waist: Deadly Gladiator's Cord of Dominance -> 49.6K Honor
Feet: Deadly Gladiator's Treads of Dominance -> 49.6K Honor

Finger 1: Hateful Gladiator's Band of Dominance -> 30.4K Honor
Finger 2: Deadly Gladiator's Band of Ascendancy -> 38K Honor
Trinket 1: Medallion of the Horde -> 30.4K Honor
(Or) Titan-forged Rune of Audacity -> 25 Wintergrasp Mark of Honor from Mukar in Wintergrasp fortress.
Trinket 2: Battlemaster's Bravery -> 49.6K Honor
(Or) Platinum Disks of Sorcery - 25 Wintergrasp Mark of Honor from Mukar in Wintergrasp fortress.

Weapons:

Have to go with PvE weapons till you play arena. Get good naxx drops
If you are willing to spend gold, get a crafter to make these, or buy them from AH: Titansteel Spellblade and Iron-bound Tome

Blade of the Keening Banshee -> You need to do Argent Tournament dailies to become a champion before you can buy this weapon. Cost is 25 Champion's Seals.
Grand Staff of Jordan -> 325 Stone Keeper's Shards from Mukar in Wintergrasp fortress.

Flameheart Spell Scalpel if you are exalted with Kirin Tor and Ward of the Violet Citadel for 25 Badge of Heroism. Rod of the Fallen Monarch - Drops in Heroic Azjol-Nerub.

Section II: Gems

Loved the gem suggestions by Rutiene in "Compendium of 80 PvP Gear" thread, thanks! If you are a beginner like me, ignore the ones without asterisk(+resilience) to keep things simple. Don't forget to get a buckle in your belt.

Summary:
Powerful Earthsiege Diamond (Meta)
Trenchant Earthsiege Diamond (Meta)
Durable Monarch Topaz (Red/Yellow)
Steady Forest Emerald (Blue/Yellow)
Kharmaa's Grace (Yellow, Unique Equipped, 20 Shards of the Stone Keeper)
Mystic Autumn's Glow (Yellow)

Bigger gem list in Rutiene's post.

Section III: Enchants

Thanks to Darklawdog's post for the PvP Enchant recommendations:

Head: Arcanum of Dominance - WG Quartermaster
Shoulder: Inscription of Dominance - WG Quartermaster
Back: Spell Piercing - Enchanting Profession
Chest: Exceptional Resillience - Enchanting Profession
Wrist: Superior Spellpower or Major Stamina - Enchanting Profession
Gloves: Exceptional Spellpower - Enchanting Profession
Legs: Sapphire Spellthread - Tailoring Profession
Feet: Tuskarr's Vitality - A run speed increase is needed in PvP - Enchanting Profession
Rings: Greater Spellpower or Stamina - Enchanting Profession
Weapon: Mighty Spellpower - Enchanting Profession (cheaper: Major Spellpower)

How you balance spell power vs. stamina depends on your player style. Think of it like damage vs survivability trade-off.
+19 spell power enchants on rings if your warlock is an enchanter.

Generally though, go through list of enchantments for each slot on wowhead.com and pick stamina, spell power, or crit according to your preference. Resilience/Resistance/Penetration when available.

Section IV: Food, Elixirs and Potions*:
(*Can't use in Arena but can in world pvp/battlegrounds.)
Fish Feast (before Wintergrasp!)
Firecracker Salmon
Tender Shoveltusk Steak (for non-fishers)
Spiced Worm Burger
Spiced Mammoth Treats (we don't have better pet buff food?)
Blackened Worg Steak (see alliance players on minimap, say in battlegrounds)

Flask of Stoneblood
Flask of the Frost Wyrm
Runic Healing Potion
Runic Mana Potion

Note: Updated with the suggestions from all the posts below, thank you folks!

Re: Best 80 PvP Gear Honor Points Can Buy

WOW!! i love this post, this is exactly what i have been looking for. i am starting PVP, i got my frostsavage set and working my way up and i will be using this guide quite often... thanks alot!

i would like to add a food item though.

Recipe: Blackened Worg Steak

it allows you to track humanoids on the minimap for one hour... i know it doesn't add spellpower and all that jazz but if you are in wintergrasp to fish or farm stuff and want to be able to see if people are trying to sneak up on you... this is the buff for you! it shows the opposite faction on your minimap as a red dot and your own faction as green dots. so if you are fishing and you see a red dot heading your way! get prepared! i use it all the time and is definitely worth using... saved my butt a few times.

Re: Best 80 PvP Gear Honor Points Can Buy

I just went thru the process of getting all of this gear...couple of things to add:

1) Don't waste 50k of honor getting the Hateful chest piece and then realize you actually want the Titan-forged chest piece like I did. They have different stats...plan carefully beforehand.

2) Two items that give you a big boost to Resilence are the trinkets (Platinum Disks of Sorcery and the Medallion of the Horde). I got them early and was glad I did.

3) I got all of the same enchants...don't forget the weapon enchant +63 spellpower which is not listed above.

4) The 5 Wintergrasp quests for me were an easy way to get ~15k honor, in addition to the shards that you need for head/shoulder enchant and the gems listed above.

5) I bought the following weapons on the auction house and they have worked well for me:
Titansteel Spellblade Titansteel Spellblade - Item - World of Warcraft
Iron-bound Tome Iron-bound Tome - Item - World of Warcraft

Thx

Oh, since i've got the Frostsavage set I'm going for the Deadly Off-set first, Frostsavage has resilience already so seemed better to replace my pve stuff first

Further Edit :-)

I also bought Runed Mana Band from the AH rather than spend honor on the hateful ring, will probably upgrade in a bit but no rush now, more important things to replace first

IMO if oyu get a BM trinket it should definitely be the Spell Power not the crit one. Spell Power makes your normal hits AND crits more powerful, while all crit does is increase the chance to crit. And SP affects your DoTs too (though crit affects Corr and UA too if you are Affl ofc). SP all the way!

Sweet! I didn't know about the Iron-Bound Tome, thanks for the tip. Here's another great PvP-oriented Trinket Darkmoon Card: Death. It procs for ~2-3k and has a 45s ICD, great for bursting down opponents (I also have the eng glove rockets macro'd with conflag, makes for ~4-5k additional burst off the GCD).

Edit: ilvl 200 epic caster weapon Titansteel Spellblade can be found on the AH, generally for under 1k.

Edit2: Yeah, Morderin had that in his post above. Me slow.

Thank's for this. I'm still trying to get my head around buying a PvP set and this should come in handy.

Re: Best 80 PvP Gear Honor Points Can Buy

Drabi,

Fastest way to get honor is to do wintergrasp and all its weeklies. Also do the daily bg.

If you have nothing else you need with badges and shards trade those in for honor as well.

It saddens me to see that Blizzard has stated it wants to draw more attention to bgs, and yet there are no incentives to do that. No offense, but all this gear sucks now with furious gear out. I am in all deadly set gear and back and furious off sets.. with pve weapons, now and when i saw the new S7 gear images I got so excited but realized it will be a LONG time until I am in them.

They should make BG set gear to rival the Arena gear.. not have BG gear be the left overs or hand me downs of arena. Thta way those of us that love BGs could spec that way and get good gear and not worry about arena at all.

Wintergrasp by far in my opinion.

Also if you can find someone who is willing haveing a 2v2 team play 10 matches a week will give you better pvp gear much faster than grinding the honour for it even if you lose all 10 games.
