Re: On the PTR : universal tier tokens and extendable raid locks
"Unfair for the hardcore players to complain"???? We put the time in to get the best items in game and now there just giving them away! A person who plays 8hrs a week and doesnt raid has the same gear as someone who plays 30-40hrs a week and raids 5 nights a week?!? How fair is that? |

badge gear as another way to develop quicker for end-game raiders - check huge amount of dedication needed to get all "badge" second-best tier gear (100+ days of doing brainless dailies) - check opportunity for people not in end-game raiding guild to develop, have fun and see some of new content - check if making game better for other players - "casuals" (not necessary bad players) ruins your personal feeling because you will not be so special (and whole tier or two ahead), maybe something is wrong and maybe is not but whatever, it's only game I play to have fun

Re: On the PTR : universal tier tokens and extendable raid locks
I for one can see both sides of the argument about the universal tokens. For a casual player, it's nice to not have to dedicate 40 hours a week raiding and still get good gear. Then again, we already see to much of the situation where someone with top of the line gear, is a hardcore baddie that you'll never group with again. There was a time when having a certain level of gear meant various things. generally it meant you were a decent player, because it took 20-40 skilled people not screwing up to down a boss. If you just joined a guild but were geared from a previous guild/pugs it meant that you dedicated time to the game. Meaning this guild wouldn't take you on their runs and gear you up, just to have you not log on for weeks at a time. Now, after complaints of the casual raider not being able to get gear, and so few people seeing Blizz's endgame content, Blizz has come up with various ways to combat that problem. First we saw naxx, which is the type of raid where you have to be a complete idiot not to succeed. It isn't hard, gear drops constantly, and almost anyone can do it. So, people complained that raiding was too easy. So here comes Ulduar, where we have come full circle to the point where Ulduar isn't casual raider friendly. Once again, complaints. So next comes universal tokens and conquest badges handed out like candy. The problem I see is that so many people are going to just get groups to do the easy bosses, so they get their tokens, and whatever cool end-raid content Blizz has set up will be a rare thing to see. gear will be ridiculously easy to get, and we will find ourselves back at the point where everyone, even bad players, will be geared out. The elitist factor will be relegated to what, proto-drakes? So one person has great gear from raiding, progression, hours of wipes figuring out new bosses. While some other people have the same gear, from doing a handful of bosses and easy to farm badges. I guess the only tangible thing to separate raiders from casual players will be best in slot gear, which will most likely be much harder to get. Probably hard modes and final bosses, things like that. So their will still be a gear difference between the casual player and the raider. But it won't be so bad as when the casual player had UBRS and maybe some MC gear, as opposed to the raider who clearly outgeared him with Naxx and BWL gear. In the end, it all comes down to money. Blizz might lose a few of the hardcore raiders to things like this, but the majority of players are more casual, and will probably welcome these changes. We've all seen with Blizz that if it means keeping customers, Blizz will do it, no matter how ridiculous it may be. In the end, they're just a company making as much money as they can, by making the majority of their customers happy. |

![]() I know - it must be horrible - your epeen shrinks every time somebody else gets the same purple pixels you got 6 months ago. Don't worry, you'll forget all about it while you are doing the next raid content that most people will never see. Just don't think about how EASY it is for new players to get mounts now, your head might explode! ![]() But seriously... these changes appear to benefit raiders most of all. As a more casual player, these are not issues for me anyway. It's kinda funny to hear raiders complaining about features that Blizzard put in the game... for raider.

it's fair cause you can't fill out every single slot. you'll see this random nub with t9 and... and some weapon from naxx 10 ( or 25 ) you raid, you get your BiS. simple it doesn't bother me one bit because as others have said, if you suck you suck, no gear will help you |

Re: On the PTR : universal tier tokens and extendable raid locks
I am in a semi-hardcore guild. We only raid 3 times a week, and only have to make 2 nights. I play for the fun factor, the gear just helps me do the encounters more easily. Who cares if people who play less get some gear. They will be getting gear that I will be sharding soon anyway. |

Blizzard has decided better gear is not to be the driving force in raiding. It's there as a necessity to be able to increase the challenge but otherwise it's obvious they now feel that it's in the achievements and the mounts as someone else has said. It's strange. I want to rant the same way sometimes. I played EQ days. 72 person raids. Where it was all progression shown by your gear. Even Vanilla WoW as I said, was showing off those shiny BWL epics, and anyone not raiding would ever be wearing purple. So I understand where the hate is coming from. But it's time to get your mind out of its box of loot being the basis upon which raiding exists. |
