Re: On the PTR : universal tier tokens and extendable raid locks

Universal Tier Tokens :

This got me very disappointed at first.

But then I remembered that it's not much worse than BC. In BC, you got good crafted gear - and competitive PvP honor items for the slots you couldn't fill. When Sunwell hit, you would get crazy badge gear without even raiding.
How do you get T8-level gear without raiding right now? Well in BC, you could get T5+-level gear.

The only thing that is annoying is that the T8 gear obtained by repeatedly farming Naxx-10 in 2 hours will be the same as the hard earned one. If only the drop from the boss had a different name, then that would be fine. You would have two sets with the same stats:
- the HardEarned Conqueror's Deathbringer Garb <- from the boss in Ulduar
- the Jenkins' Conqueror's Deathbringer Garb <- from emblems (or emblems from inferior content)
Then that would be ok. If the Jenkins version was fluorescent pink or something that could be funny

But basically, if they want people to experience most of the content, then they have to either 1) repeatedly nerf content until people in quest blues could do it, 2) give better and better gear to players. Notice that 1) requires 0 effort for the player.

Re: On the PTR : universal tier tokens and extendable raid locks

I think sinister put it perfectly.

some people (im suprised some are from the den :o ) need to get over themselves and realise this game has moved on.

WoW is not just about Tier gear. its about (for raider) 25 people getting together and dedicating time to clear content they find challenging.

So what is someone has t8.5 shoulders and hasnt downed Yogg? they dont have the achievement do they? they dont have the knowledge and satisfaction to prove they have downed him.

hardcore raiders dont loose out at all except to see more casuals with Tier gear.
The casuals will NEVER get the hard achievements, NEVER experience hard modes, NEVER get that epic flying mount and NEVER get hard mode gear.....only a piece of Tier.

so what is all the fuss about this is just my opinion and it annoys me to see so many QQing over something so stupid

Just learn this game is about achievements and progress and not about where someone got 1 piece of tier from.

The only people i can see being annoyed are the inbetweeners....who wont get hardmode gear/achievements but who are more skilled and can actually attempt challenging bosses, and hence casuals and them will be in same gear bracket, but they arnt hardcore.....so 'hardcore raiders....whats the problem????????

Re: On the PTR : universal tier tokens and extendable raid locks

I'm not sure if i'd call myself hardcore, in my 10 man we've downed YS though and just downed Mimi in our 25 man.

Am I very happy about this? No, not at all. As another thread here stated WoW is becoming too "Cutesy" - my account actually ran out 2 days ago and i've yet to resub it simply because they're making the game far too easy. I like a challenge while WoW is no longer a challenge to me after the amount of changes that they're making.

Hakasa...sorry to be pickey but you just so contradicted yourself xD.....

if you find the current game/ content too easy thn why have you only downed mim.....

maybe try some hardmodes and yogg 25 and conqueror achievements before your start complaining the game is too easy..after all...thahts what they are there for.

=D

I in no way contradicted myself. I'm sorry that my guild doesn't have a totally awesome group of 25.

We've done quite a few hardmode achievements in 10 man. How about you check my armory, aye?

Had I been able to attempt these said hardmodes in 25 man I would have, no doubt, but again sometimes our 25 man is lacking, otherwise I would gladly love to kill YS and do some hardmodes in 25 man and actually earn my T8.5 Shoulders.

with every patch after 2.0 which i belive was release of burning crusade.. blizz has made the game more casual/easy and imo ruining it... next thing players will be able to buy gear with gold from vendors

From Blizz point of view we need another gold sink.
Inflation is nasty bastard.

Blizz knows where their bread is buttered (and rightly so...). WoW has gone from being a hundred thousand teenage kids who could spend their lives doing nothing but raid to 12 million global users most of which are in their 30's who have to go to work and take care of the family.

"Hardcore" raiders were once in the relative majority, now they're in the insignificant minority. It only makes sense that the game becomes more representative of the user base. At the same time, Blizz seems to still be trying to keep in more challenging content (hard modes, etc), but that is no longer the 'point' of the game.

Re: On the PTR : universal tier tokens and extendable raid locks

This is what I said in another thread responding to someone who was crying about "nubs being able to get everything" with badges.

"....last time I checked there are seventeen item slots per character. Shiny T8.5 isn't going to mean much to anyone if they're rocking a blue heroic sword, trinkets. rings and off-hand.

Outside of the set bonuses there is a lot of gear available from Ulduar drops that are equal or better, not even in hard mode. If someone wants to grind 25 heroics for 120 conquest badges to get a couple of T8 pieces they can be my guest. They worked harder for them than the other main lock in my guild who walked into Vault two weeks after the patch as the only warlock and came out with TWO T8.5 set pieces in one run."
