Cold Weather Flying BoA tome on PTR
Here's some blue news that will make your Dalaran alt-leveling experience that much faster: Just to confirm, Tome of Cold Weather Flight is actually a new heirloom item planned to go into patch 3.2. At level 80 players can buy this heirloom item from the Cold Weather Flying Trainer in Dalaran for 1,000 gold and send it to an alt of the same realm, faction and account. The tome can be used to learn Cold Weather Flying at level 68, consuming the tome in the process. Please note this feature is not yet in the newest version of the public test realm patch notes updated today. The item and its functionality are subject to change during the testing process. Re: Cold Weather Flying BoA tome on PTR
Heh, I stayed in OL for a couple of extra levels just to be able to take advantage of epic flight that I had paid 5k for (plus the reg flying fee) because I didn't want to be stuck on the ground as soon as I got it. I could've waited for epic flight (or any flight, really) until I could get cold weather, but where's the fun in that? I always thought it was kind of chintzy that as soon as you could get flight you'd be stuck on the ground for another 7 levels if you went to Northrend right away. |

Re: Cold Weather Flying BoA tome on PTR
Seems odd, don't it? So One level 68 can fly around Northrend, while another, whom doesn't have a level 80 toon, is grounded. In a way it makes sense as the one with the level 80 toon has gone through Northrend while grounded and the other hasn't. But it still seems odd to have an inequality in toons of the same level like that. Perhaps its just me. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cold Weather Flying requirement drops to 68 as well eventually.

Re: Cold Weather Flying BoA tome on PTR
I find this a bit strange as well. I mean, it's nice to be able to fly through Northrend with level 68, and I certainly won't complain about that. But making such a big difference between an level 7x alt and a level 7x main is not a great idea. If they want to speed up levelling of alts they should let people make a level 55 character of any class. Or they should reduce Cold Weather flying to level 70 for all chars, it didn't make that much sense anyways to learn flying at level 70 in Outland and then being confined to the ground again for 7 more levels in Northrend. Just to prevent people from accessing Icecrown and Dalaran too early? But my second level 68 is allowed to go there, because I already know the lore? |

Re: Cold Weather Flying BoA tome on PTR
I think it's just to encourage people to extend their playlife by rolling alts. People that don't have 80's already have a motivation to level. For people who do have 80's it more of a 'same old, same old' chore. |

Re: Cold Weather Flying BoA tome on PTR
I agree; making it easier to level, etc., is to encourage people to play and keep leveling alts. Letting ALL types begin at 55 might make people start to think "this game is really getting messed up"... |

Re: Cold Weather Flying BoA tome on PTR
Blizzards original story behind not being able to get cold weather flying until 77 was so players could experience the areas etc rather than just fly over them to their desired area to quest/farm mats etc. This could possibly be a "you have seen all these areas on the way up-do you need to see'em again on another toon" idea. I have run 3 toons on the ground to 80 so whilst I haven't seen everywhere (warrior has "the Explorer" title & still "discovers" places ocasionally) I have a good idea of where I'm going & it would certainly have saved time. I'm now on my fourth toon who is halfway through 76 lol.
