I would be happy if I could kill just one now, or a rouge!

Roll on changes, anything is better. Bored with buttons greyed out 90% of a fight!

Sounds like "too fun" wich scares me... I mean c'moon warlocks are new cloth DK's
I think making the game a lot easyer will make the game dull and boring.

For the love of all things demonic and unholy in our warlock arsenal!!!!!!! I'm not picking on any one person, but this is like the 3rd time this lame argument has been used.

1. Blizzard is going to essentially rewrite the talent trees of the classes
2. Blizzard is doing stat consolidation (eliminating spirit)

Given those two FACTS why would blizzard leave a talent or skill which would make use of an eliminated stat? They might change it to make use of int, or stamina, or for pete's sake we might not even have fel armor in cataclysm let alone have it make use of spirit.

Re: Preliminary Warlock Class Changes in Cataclysm

As long as it's not a walk in the park to play warlock for everyone, I'm glad. It's taken a long time to learn the class(goes for all classes I guess). I would hate to switch my playstyle with easymode. I like it complex! Let it be complex! That's why I have no other class I enjoy as much as warlock.

I agree 100% time and time again I hear people QQ about any changes (to any class not just locks), and then in the next line they complain why blizzard doesn't change something else. They aren't stupid when they redo a class they are going to look at all the existing spells and balance them. So maybe shadowburn won't take a shard anymore but maybe the spell will hit for less or have a longer CD or Fel Armor not using spirit maybe it'll be 10% of int, blah blah blah something will happen. The rotations will still involve player skill as they always have everytime they made changes.

And the itemization changes are for all gear not just casters, honestly I prefer it. Not because I'm stupid and can't go calculate weights to which gear is better but because I shouldn't need to. With enough knowledge of the class and mechanics I should be able to take a look at most pieces of gear and be able to tell which is better.

Re: Preliminary Warlock Class Changes in Cataclysm

I agree with the changes to simplify the gear. If you want a hard game, make harder raids/instances and balance the PVP. But seriously, as much as I appreciate Warlock den, why should I need to review warlock den and other sites to learn what combinations of gear I need to optimize my DPS?

In fact, the whole idea of add ons is offensive to me. I know they are necessary in the current state of things. But imagine if you bought a console game and then in order to beat a boss in it, you had to go online and download/install an additional program. Tedious and would not sell well.

Right now the most multiplayer popular video game in the world:

a) Has massive race/class/spec imbalances.
b) has the most frustrating PVP combat system - Stunlocking, multiple CC, it's horrible.
c) A number of technical problems (my game crashed earlier and lag was excessive
d) requires 3rd party involvement to play the game at its highest level. (this is a responsibility of the maker, imo.

I hope cataclysm addresses all of this.

It wasn't an argument, it was a question...hence the question mark.

I like this Having a class that can wtfbbqpwn you keeps you on your toes, equally having a class you can chain fear and 'play' with is good fun too

Back to the changes tho...

I've enjoyed every change to the class they have made, but not always to begin with :P

...

I hope cataclysm addresses all of this.
I think that balance is important, as there should be a "place in the sun (or under the full moon)" for everyone. However, I actually think that Blizzard has gone TOO far trying to make all things equal. The net result is that everything starts to act very much the same.

Eg:
  1. There should be some REAL differences between Horde and Alliance, not just the way the toons look. Allis should have Pali's and Mages. Horde should have Shammys and Warlocks. As it is, the story/background is laughable; it doesn't match the sameness of the 2 factions.
  2. How many classes have pets now? That has detracted from the 2 classes who are supposedly designed around their pets namely locks and hunters. And ironically, the Beast Master spec seems to be struggling more with their DPS than anybody else.
  3. Hybrids should be hybrids. Boomkins and Feral druids should not be beating ANY pure DPS spec. The idea of being a hybrid is that you bring something extra to the group, becuase a hybrid - by definition - is not a specialist. I would always want a boomkin in the raid for his buff, even if he/she is going to produce 5-10% lower damage than the dps whose place he/she is taking. That is the point of a hybrid. At the same time, each hybrid should have 1 spec where they can almost reach "mastery".
At the same time, I can appreciate the behemoth of a task for Blizzard in trying to have all classes and specs functioning in a balanced way that everybody is happy with. Keep it up.
