Re: 3.3 PTR Patch Notes

Well, as he said, if it turns out that bad, they will hopefully change it.

The imp change? Its a surprising amount of discussion about this considering none of us are ever likely to think "oh my god I forgot to do my imp quest" and go back there :p

The bad thing about these patch notes tho? That avoidance change actually doesn't help in pve.

At the moment, it is very rare for my pet to die from aoe. When it DOES die, it is usually from some form of aoe causing a dot on it - Fire bombs on gormok, icehowl's breath, sartharion's lava walls. And as far as I can see, the patch notes don't say they have fixed it.

So this is pretty much a PvP nerf yeah.

Also disappointing is that blizzard have stated in cataclysm they will make pets not get hit by any harmful boss abilities but they will get all the buffs in an encoutner that a player does. So why tell us "we're going to make the pet take no damage, but in the mean time, even though we could, we'll just try and improve its survivability more".

One thing to remember about the pvp change though, is that when pets first got the 80% avoidance, they didn't get any of the player's resilience, whereas I think now they do? Regardless, it isn't a huge amount.
This will hurt army of the dead more than anything else, I think. Thats true. But, as much as I HATE to say it.. arena.
I guess the class this change hurts most in arena is.. boomkins. Kinda laughable that ;p

Don't forgot enhance shammys... Now you can nuke those ******* feral spirits. Set your pet on him and hit hellfire for a couple secs. Hurts you, but at least the wolves are gone.

Per Ghostcrawler:

We certainly don't think pet resilience is useless. We are considering increasing it to 100% of master's resilience to make up for the increased AE damage pets will take in PvP. We don't want pets to explode on contact (neither do we want pet classes to be twice as difficult to kill) but we did think it was a little goofy and unintuitive that pets could just shrug off AE attacks in PvP. We'd rather make pets tougher against all types of damage than be vulnerable to some and nearly immune to others.
MMO-Champion BlueTracker - Ok, Pet Resilience...

Of course, they're only considering buffing pets with more resilience. They're definitely nerfing pets by making them more vulnerable to players in the meantime.
