Heroics and Pre-ToC Raids to drop Triumph in 3.3?

Although Bornakk prefaces the comment with 'things can still change', it looks like Blizzard is thinking that the raids/heroics that drop Emblems of Conquest today (everything pre-ToC) will drop Emblems of Triumph in 3.3.

More can be read in the original thread here.

General reminder: Things can still change.

The current plan is to make Emblems of Triumph the "base" of emblems so everything that drops Emblems of Conquest would be changed to Triumph and then the new raid content would drop the new highest emblem along with things like the heroic daily and such.

/sigh. We're never going to have content only for long-time players ever again. The patch'll come out, and all the raiding you've done this patch will be supplanted by free triumph gear. :(

Well, i was happy when they introduced conquest emblems in heroics and pre ToC raids a little while ago, mostly because previously getting such a quantity of conquest emblems was a pain. However, truimph emblems in pre ToC content is too much, too soon.

Hmm.. Not sure how I feel about this. I am now in 4 pieces of t9 (all 232) and the badge 245 head gear now. It took a while for me to get the badges and I think its a little lame that a lock that dings 80 could catch up and be in the same gear as I am in now in weeks. Doing all the heriocs and raids means in a couple weeks time a person could be in full t9. Thats just lame. With this being the last major patch before the xpac I really don't see a need for it. If everyone is geared up too quickly we will all be pretty bored long before the xpac is ready.

Re: Heroics and Pre-ToC Raids to drop Triumph in 3.3?

ultimately this means it doesn't what level of content you're doing now, come 3.3 given enough time to badge farm you should be able walk into icecrown

personally if this is the new direction that blizzard is taking... I like it

as one of the few people who's seen every raid encounter cept HM Anub ( cause we're still sucking on twins ) since WoW started I think it's a real shame that the final chapters of the game is only ever accessible to a small minority

If you've played any of the other blizzard titles, you'll realise that blizzard are awesome story tellers. as i said before Naxx 40 and Sunwell was both very beautiful in terms of design and also had interesting lore attached to it.

the fight with the lich king is prob one of the most anticipated fight ever since WoW launched, why not offer the chance to let everyone experience it? It not only concludes Wrath but also brings a closing to the whole WCIII / WCIII FT storyline

What?

Most of your gear has been bought via emblems or vendors of one kind or another over the last month or two and you're complaining that other people might do the same in the future? Classic!

I disliked the conquest changes before, but this is just silly.

This is the point exactly.

Never really understood how people can QQ about Blizzard making the game more accessible. There's 12 million people playing the thing... not every one of them is going to be an elite raider, but every one of them wants to get the most fun out of the game as they can.

To limit raid content (as it was before) to the handful of people who have the time/inclination to run early and often is pretty elitist and selfish. I didn't get in Sunwell (like the majority of people), but I'm going to be in Icecrown. Since I'm a decently dedicated raider, I'll probably be in the day it's released (not accounting for server crashes) and be geared to take it on, but I'm glad that there's still a door open for more casual people to gear up and get in.

The real dedicated raiders still have hard modes, titles and achievements and early gearing to set them apart, do they really need raid exclusivity?

If a warlock dings 80 the day before 3.3 hits, he will not likely catch anyone in gear. The reasons are:
1) It took him this long to get to 80, and you've had a heck of a lead on him.
2) He's probably an alt or a new player. Neither are very aggressive about getting BiS gear, nor are they often in top end raiding guilds.
3) Only top end raiding guilds (read: Mon-Fri "Dinner til bed" raiding guilds) have gotten iLvl 258 geared out. How is this different comparing 3.2 with 3.3?

All this means is that Wrath of the Lich King has less of a gap between "Hardcore" and "Casual". There will always be a gap, and you still have to get Trophies or armor tokens for the better gear. iLvl 232 is far from BiS, but it's the best I can get, and it's still rather exciting when I get my 2nd piece of T9 (iLvl 232) in 3 more days of daily heroic dungeons. Yeah, it's gonna take me that long.

Best regards,
Cormanthor

Yea I kinda dont like this either it took me a while to farm badges and im still not full t9 so the thought of doin chain heroics all over again sounds boring.Maybe add few more heroics?
