Re: ICC Zone Buff Available

Only 2.86% of 25man guilds have downed the LK. Even less for 10 man strict.

The hardcore (as in 6 nights a week, Ensidia style top notch) guilds are always going to get things down before they start nerfing things, because that is the standard they play at. They represent only 2% of the overall guilded population. I would understand people complaining if most guilds were now working on heroic, but most guilds aren't. Most guilds are casual (which is fine) and don't have all the time in the world, because most of us are living, working human beings who want to log on when we have free time and get some satisfaction. I would much rather have a buff to make up for lost time when i can raid then content to be so hard time takes over and we never even get to the LK.

IT CAN BE TURNED OFF. If the hardcore guilds have alot of time, patience, and want some sense of 'credibility', then they can turn it off. If they find it too easy, they can turn it off. More causal players however couldn't give a damn, they just want to kill bosses and have fun.

Re: ICC Zone Buff Available

Nobody is going to turn off the buff until they've completed the instance. Find me one single guild that does. There is no additional tangible credibility to be had in turning the buff off, and tangible credibility is what a progression guild needs to keep morale up, attract new members, and survive. We're all still racing for realm firsts and guild rankings. Why would we just hand the competition to our opponents?

Think of it this way:
Progression races on each server are like a type of marathon. Some people are there to be among the first to the finish. Some people want to see how fast they can finish. Some people are there to see IF they can finish.

Imagine halfway through the race the judges put in a shortcut. This shortcut benefits you more the further back you are in the race. It's legal to use, nobody can know if you use it, there's no penalty for using it, and it's available to everyone. Sure, you can choose to ignore it, but if you're there to race to the finish you'd be an idiot not to use it.

The buff is technically optional, but in reality you can't turn it off. Also, you can't turn it back on. Obviously the Lich King is meant to be killed WITH the buff, and if you can't re-enable it, you won't be able to kill him.

Edit_____________
Another analogy:
The judges have handed out anti-gravity shoes that reduce your weight by 5%. That naturally helps people in the back more than people in the front.

Hmm... too Sci-Fi.
