About this section - Read first!

Welcome to the Individual Talent Discussion section of the forum! The information below will help you understand what this section is all about and how best to use it. Please take a moment to read through this before posting any replies, as the moderating of this section to ensure it stays on track will be rather strict.

General Info:
This area of the forum was created to promote and encourage discussions between members on individual talents. A lot of the threads created both here and on other forums are about talent builds. In an attempt to help educate and inform Warlocks with in-depth information, analysis and assistance on a talent by talent basis, it will allow more players to make decisions on what best suits them and hopefully move away from "What's a good leveling build?" type threads. Unfortunately we will never be able to completely end the vague and repeated build questions, however for every person who can't or won't research information for themselves, there are ten out there that will and these are the people that will benefit most from this section. These are also the people I am most interested in helping.

Alongside my personal high opinion of the members that post here, they also pride themselves on being helpful and courteous without the official forum flame filled environment. With the threads found here, coupled with this attitude to help others, we can hopefully continue to fight against repeated build threads by pointing out information already available. Mix into all of that further enhancements and ideas already in motion for the site and we will ideally become the information source for everything relating to Warlock talents! It's a lot like the saying, "give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime". The information and discussions that will (hopefully) follow in these threads are teaching the art of fishing...

The idea behind each individual thread is a lot like the "What Warlocks Say..." threads, only with more discussion, question and analysis information and minus the ratings. They will be promoted to include everything relating to that individual talent including it's uses in all aspects of the game (PvE, PvP, Raiding etc) and in general provide an information packed area to aid both those still learning as well as the already more knowledgeable to have a better understanding and more thorough idea of what's behind each talent. Think of these threads as informational guides created by everyone's input.

Now I know I've said this above, but I'm going to end this section with it again and I'm going to say it a little simpler because it seems to be missed in the past few news/information threads. These threads won't help everyone, and yes there will still be "what do you think of this build" type threads. However this section will help people who can research things themselves and these are the people I am most interested in helping. You can help reduce the amount of repeated threads by pointing out information already available, the search feature or existing threads on the same topic. If you stop answering the undesirable threads, people will learn to stop asking them. It's human nature of a lot of people - why do something yourself if someone else will do it for you?

Lastly... a couple of things to remember when replying to these threads...

Must have experience...
Because these threads are designed to help other Warlocks understand the talent better, please only contribute facts and information if you have first hand experience. Any "my friend" or "my sisters dog" experiences, while being helpful I'm sure, don't really do anything if what is being posted can't be backed up when questioned. A better option would be to point out the thread to your friend or sisters dog, ask them to register and then reply with their experiences. If however, you have a question about what the dog said, by all means lead into it with what you have heard or been told, and then ask for clarification. What isn't wanted is dismissing someone else's post because of what you "heard"...

Ask away!
As mentioned above, if you have heard something, or read something on another site about one of our talents, by all means use the threads in this section to question it or seek clarification. These threads are designed to be a knowledgebase of sorts for each individual talent and anything involving it is allowed. Questions on how the talent works, what it effects or the best environment to use it in are all very welcome in these threads.

Exclusion: If you have a question regarding two specific talents (example A vs B), then please create a new thread under the Spells and Talents section with a title explaining which talents you are curious about, ie Suppression vs Improved Corruption. This not only allows people to immediately know what you are asking about, but also allows the thread to be linked back in to the threads here. This also ensures that the discussion about those two in direct comparison is able to stay on topic and be easily followed by others, instead of mixed in with these broader threads.

No build questions!
While questions about a specific talent is allowed and highly encouraged, please note that talent build questions are not. The idea behind these threads is to promote and encourage discussions on individual talents and how they come into play so as to allow those that like to think for themselves, use them to decide what they want. We're trying to promote more individual thinking and encouraging Warlocks to come to their own decisions rather than asking others to think for them, "ie - what's a good leveling build?" Any replies about builds will be deleted, not moved, deleted. You have been warned.

Exclusion: Just to be annoyingly tricky, if your question revolves around something like "How does Suppression help in raiding builds", they are allowed. That question opens up general discussion about Suppression in raids, and not a specific build.

This thread can and will be updated when new things arise.

Note: To avoid this post being derailed, it is locked from replies. If you think there should be any "dos or don'ts" included, please use the Contact Us form.
