Compendium of Road Tested level 80 PvE builds (V.2)

Let me preface the second shot at this thread by saying that this isn't the place for redundant questions, such as "what enchants do you use?". That info will be provided by checking the player's armoury link. Secondly, I have to stress that any post that asks for help with a build will be deleted. It gives me zero pleasure to delete posts but I can't make it any clearer.*

I've considered that we do need a bit of discussion here, but please keep it on topic. I think eventually once we've got a handful of good posts with working builds e.g very decent DPS, we'll prune out all the divergent conversation and close it so we can link to this thread and people can have an excellent reference point.

Lets keep them tidy. It's a community effort, so play your part! Check out this sticky for further information: Talent Build Sticky-Sticky - Essential Information for Den Users!

This thread is dedicated to collating the various level 80 builds that are working for you.

The Format:
All builds should be presented to provide a uniform level of information, for ease of reading and responding.

Quote:

Wowhead link of build in use: [link]

PvE Play style and Requirements of build: Specify where you've been (Heroic Dungeons / 10 / 25 man Raid)

DPS Achieved:

Consumables:

Glyphs:

Demon Used: Also a good place to explain any micro management of your demon.

Weapon Stone Used:

Basic "Patchwerk" Rotation: perfect scenario, with no movement.

Additional Comments: Anything you might feel is helpful or might answer a question someone may have about your performance with the build, for example: buffs, raid comp, anything that can't be gleaned from the above information.
Simple enough? Great!

We want only the builds that contribute to a decent performance. Anecdotal evidence is ok, but we'd much prefer your knowledge to be backed up with WWS reports, screenshots and hard facts. By all means post what is definitely working for you and add your reports in this thread as discussion continues.

It's your chance to shape the raiding warlock community for the better.

*Any "help" or "what do you think of this build?" posts will be deleted. There are appropriate threads for those posts found respectively:

PvE Play style and Requirements of build: 25 man Raids. A Moonkin with Improved Faerie Fire or a Spriest with Misery are required to soft cap your hit at 11%.

Additional Comments: No WWS report, but I was #1 damage and DPS on Patchwerk over an excellently played hunter who was similarly geared and is consistently our top DPS. There was no Warrior or Elemental Shaman present, so no Sunder Armor for the hunter and no Totem of Wrath for me. All other relevant buffs/debuffs were present. This netted me 4000 dps.

Rotation: Corr>Curse of Agony>Immo>Incin>Incin>Incin

I have yet to see a significant difference between Spellstones and Firestones.

PvE Play style and Requirements of build:
All 10 Mans
All 25-Mans
Requires hit of 11% with Imp FF or Misery, or hit of 14% without.
Use an attacking Imp, then Infernal at the last minute. Better to keep the Imp phased and passive for fights like Sartharion with drakes up.

Additional Comments: My current gear allows me to take two points out of Suppression to put in Imp DS since I'm too easily threat capped on Malygcos. (And to some extent, on the adds in Sartharion.) As for Cataclysm, theorycrafting has shown that point by point, 2nd point of Eradication and each point in MC is worth more than each point in Cataclysm. 2nd point of Eradication is also higher DPS than 3rd point in MC. Latest WWS for Patchwerks: Wow Web Stats (4580 DPS)

Not the best representation of this build's potential. We had no Moonkin, I was using a Felhunter for some reason (Imp is higher DPS) and my Infernal was on cooldown.

Lots and lots of SoC: Wow Web Stats

On pulls with 2-3 mobs that have lots of HP, I also fully DoT up the ones that no one is hitting. And just tab DoT, then DS when a mob hits 25% HP.

Also, I wasn't 2nd overall, I was 3rd. I wasn't there at all for Thaddius, which caused me to lose a little over 2million damage. Not my best night. I usually end up first overall.

Well, that night we didn't have a Boomkin for the first two wings. But we did for the rest. So no one was CoE'ing. Malediction should be taken by all affliction locks since it is a direct 3% damage increase, besides the 3% buff to CoE.

Usually I do CoE though if we don't have a Boomkin.

Rutiene responds: Your pet makes the jump on Gluth. On Thaddius I just don't bother with him.

Volki adds: Easiest way to get your pet to follow you is once you jumo down turn your pet to passive, then back to defense, passive will pull your pet right to you and you miss maybe 2 secs of the fight with him

Heh, I guess im just unlucky, because my pet on gluth simply sits in the pipe .

I tried your spec after being destro 0/31/40.
And I want to say that right now affliction def. rocks with all those running around on Malygos and in the Obsidian with two drakes up.

Question, what is your initial rotation?
Mine is Shadow Bolt>Haunt>UA>Immolate>Corr>Curse of Agony>SL

Also I'm using glyphs: Immolate, Curse of Agony, and SL. Any corrections to this choice?
Haunt -> UA -> Corruption -> Curse of Agony -> Immo -> SL -> SB

Although initial rotation doesn't really matter beyond doing Haunt first. DoT priority is more important and goes:

Corruption > UA > Curse of Agony > Immo > SL > SB/DL for me.

In terms of glyphs, I'd use Corruption or Imp instead of Curse of Agony. Right now I'm working on a variation of the spec for when you get enough gear to be hit capped which buffs the Imp. I'll post it up after testing it for a couple of weeks.

PvE Play style and Requirements of build: Heroics and 10 man Naxx. I still have to gem for more hit, as now I have no Suppression talents. I also have been going much more for haste than crit, as the talents give me around 30%. FYI: You may have caught me in my trash gear on the armory, it has much less hit. I've been on CoE duty lately, but when I'm not, Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immolate, Incinerate, Incinerate. I've also macroed Demonic Empowerment to Curse of the Elements and Curse of Agony so it's always up when the CD is up.

Additional Comments: I just switched to this build from deep affliction after reading about it here. I haven't tested it too much, but so far for me, it seems to do slightly less damage than affliction, but is much, much easier to play. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it yet. I ended up first for our recent Patchwerk kill though.

Re: Compendium of Road Tested Level 80 PvE Builds.

First of all, I am glad to see this thread back, and thank the moderators for giving a 2nd shot....

It basically provides the build, the gear level, and the result, which is something you usually dont get as a collective.. It helps you figure out if you are in the "ballpark" gear/playstyle wise, and if not, food for thought or where/how to improve.

Which is perfect for me.

Mod's (not trying to tell you how to do your job btw ) but please dont let a few bad apples ruin a great concept and get the thread closed....

If posters cant follow simply guidelies just delete the posts .
I will post last nights patchwerk when our WWS is up.

PvE Play style and Requirements of build: Mainly heroics, just started raiding Naxx 25

DPS Achieved: 2492

Consumables: Grand Spellstone, Great Feast

Glyphs: Soul Siphon, UA, looking for a damn Immolate

Demon Used: FelHunter, fully passive, there for only the buffs and Dark Pact. In Naxx 25 I died a few more times than I wanted to and I'm considering going back to the Imp.

Weapon Stone Used: Flameheart Spell Scalpel

Basic "Patchwerk" Rotation: Naxx 25 WWS Initial Rotation: SB > Haunt > UA > Immo > Curse of Agony > Corr > Soul Siphon

Additional Comments: First time finishing some wings in Naxx with a guild I may join. The Patchwerk fight dipped into the wee hours of the morning and we kept wiping due to people's innatention and sleepiness (lol). I thought I performed well, died a few more times than I was hoping. I like this Deep Affliction build, it seems to scale well with my upgrades. I AM interested in that 0/41/30 build and maybe something that gives me just a little more survivablility.

Re: Compendium of Road Tested Level 80 PvE Builds.

Quite surprised not to see this one mentioned yet

Character Name: ElJoser

Armory Profile: The World of Warcraft Armory

Wowhead link of build in use: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft 2/18/51

PvE Play style and Requirements of build: Specify where you've been (Heroic Dungeons / 10 / 25 man Raid). It's a deep Fire Destro / Emp Imp spec that's built specifically for 25-man raids (though it does well enough in 10-man raids)

DPS Achieved: average of about 3300 on most 25-man bosses, peaked at 3900 on Patchwerk. Trying some minor adjustments that I think could yield some big DPS returns

Consumables: Your regular conumables, +SP food, Flask, etc

Glyphs: Imp, Immolate, and the 3rd one is in flux. Conflag right now (I know it's terrible) but might be changing to Curse of Agony just to elongate Curse of Agony. Definitely going this route if I end up with Chaos Bolt so that Chaos Bolt and Curse of Agony align properly

Demon Used: Imp. No Macros used

Weapon Stone Used: Firestone

Basic "Patchwerk" Rotation: Curse of Agony, Immolate, Incinxwhatever, lifetap?, repeat

Additional Comments: Getting your conflag off is extremely important for this build. I've passed this build along to others only to find that they don't do the same DPS I do. Most of the time it's them missing their conflags

I'm heading into 25-man Naxx on friday, and I think I'm gonna try some new things out on my rotation. Specifically, I'm going to spec into Chaos Bolt (maybe give up a point in Unholy Power) and I'll be using my backdraft charges on 3x Soul Fire. This means I'm going to be heading into Naxx with 50+ soul shards, but I think it's going to be a substantial DPS increase. I'll report back when I finish, and will probably post the spec
