3.1 Re: Compendium of Road Tested Level 80 PvE Builds.

Character Name: Zanathos

Armory Profile: Here

Wowhead link of build in use: 52/1/18

PvE Play style and Requirements of build: The nice thing with this build is that all you are required to reach for hit cap is 368 when you place three points in Supression. To get to the 4th Tier on the Affliction tree many people place points in Improved Drain Soul (when Soul Shatter and a good tank should offer all the threat control one needs) or Fel Concentration (when pushback isn't something a ranged caster should be experiencing). By placing three points instead in Supression to move to the 4th Tier on the Affliction tree you can be hit capped as as low as 368, and then place more emphasis on stacking spell power or haste. Finally, I place one point in Grim Reach and one point in Destructive reach, over the more popular three points in Eradication, because I feel the increased range is of greater benefit overall than increasing the chances of the haste boost. The one point in Fel Synergy makes to not have to worry for my poor pet's health nearly as much so I can focus on my rotation.

DPS Achieved: 7656 on Thadius in 25-man Naxx.

Consumables: Flask of the Frost Wyrm and Imperial Manta Steak.

Glyphs: Life Tap, Haunt and Curse of Agony.

Demon Used: Imp, usually seeing as I don't have to worry about his safety with him at range; however, with the points spent in Demonic Power, my Succubus' DPS is also increased and she can have her individual benefits.

Weapon Stone Used: Spell Stone.

Basic "Patchwerk" Rotation: Life Tap to proc glyph, Shadow Bolt to get Shadow Embrace up, the Haunt, Unstable Affliction, Curse of Agony, Corruption, then spam Shadow Bolt and reapply dots as they are needed. As always, once target is below 25 percent health replace Shadow Bolt spam with Drain Soul, seeing as it will now do 4 times the amount of damage to the target and give you a great endgame DPS boost.

Additional Comments: I think I said most of it in the PVE play-style section; however, I want to stress the advantage of this build allowing a player to reach hit cap as low as 368. Also, the range increase will give more raid utility/survivability (especially against bosses with large AOE ranges) I think than the more standard 53/1/17 I've been seeing.
