This is a redo of the affliction build now that 3.0.8 was released. Today's build is a 54/0/17 build, Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft . The felhunter is the affliction pet of choice at the moment, now that his buggy behavior has been fixed. He can do the same or more dps than the imp, without needing talents or glyphs to do so. For the rotation, see my previous blog post on affliction raiding. Below 25% on a boss, I use drain soul as my filler, and I drop immolate from my rotation. There are a few points here or there that can vary in this build. However one thing I must stress is that once you're using decent gear, any 1 point in ISB is better than 1 point in Molten Core. It probably goes without saying this is one of my favorite builds. I was able to pull 5700 dps on patchwerk, with equally competitive dps on all other fights as well (even 3 drake sarth). I think I can definitely do more, but our server has been plagued with lag issues since the release of the xpac. (Oh what I wouldn't give for one lag-free night of raiding these days) This build is also probably one of the most difficult specs to raid with. It's a complicated spec that requires absolute focused attention, the use of DoTimer, and coordination. Blizzard is going to be simplifying this spec in some way, which will be a welcome change for most. Especially considering that when the content becomes more difficult, this spec will too. This spec thus far has been edging out the competition to seemingly be THE top dps spec. Several warlocks have now come close to 7k dps with this spec. The more you have to move around while using this spec, the more difficult keeping the rotations becomes. Some argue this spec loses more when you have to move around compared to other specs, but that's wholly untrue. All specs suffer, but affliction tends to suffer the least dps loss when movement is involved. The only downside this spec has is lack of burst damage. Played correctly, this spec is truly awesome. This spec also scales far better than some might think. Haste is actually great for this spec, as it allows you to get through rotations quicker, throw more nukes in between refreshes, and ramp back up after dps pauses due to fight mechanics. It benefits tremendously from spell damage, and benefits from spirit more than any other spec as well. Simulations show this spec actually scales better than any other spec that warlocks have. Even with the difficult rotations, I have to rate this spec 10/10. Well played, it's a kick *** spec in every sense of the word. |

Re: Raiding Spec Roundup - Part 2.5 - 54/0/17
been running with this spec for a week now and i like it... though ill probably try some other one like it soon! EDIT: i did pull aggro from faerlina (and died... unfocused) last naxx raid though so i might put points in improved drain soul again.. Last edited by OGSTATUS; January 31, 2009 at 11:56 AM.. |

Any chance a mod or Akasha can move this to the raiding builds section with my other threads there? ![]() - Done |

Re: Raiding Spec Roundup - Part 2.5 - 54/0/17
This build is exactly what I have been running with since I hit 80. I love it. It actually gives me something to do while raiding. Instead of SB spamming. Which is total suck. I recommend this spec to anyone that is into Affliction raiding. |

Definitely one of the cookie cutter specs. Pulled off 6.5k DPS on Patchwerk today - and my gear is far from optimal The World of Warcraft Armory

Re: Raiding Spec Roundup - Part 2.5 - 54/0/17
Hello there, I usually am lurking around on these forums due to the immense amount of information that has been avail. while i leveled and played my lock over the last couple of years. I had leveled Cobue as affliction til 70 then changed over to Demonology for late BC raiding and of course into Wrath of the Lich King. I'm looking for a new spec and have chosen this one for the returning to my roots and for the challenge of trying to pull it off correctly. I found a ton of info and theorycrafting in your posts on the different builds and talents but the one thing i didn't seem to find was a gear starting point that may be considered adequate to start running something like this build efficently and with some decent dps. Fallen could you take a look at my gear and tell me if you think it would be satisfactory for attempting this spec build? To the Mods. I was tossed up between which section to put this in as it seems to overlap with the "rate my gear" sections and with "Talent build question" sections, but i opted to post it here because i wanted to know what Fallen thought being he seems to have a pretty damn good grip on breaking down the builds. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...Hakkar&n=Cobue Last edited by Cobue; February 07, 2009 at 05:03 PM.. Re: Raiding Spec Roundup - Part 2.5 - 54/0/17
Fall, Gave this a try in Naxx25 last night with less than stellar gear and did crap for DPS ;) 1.5k *snicker* Dont blame the spec seeing that I only have 320 hit, 1600 sp and 13% crit. In any case, can you elaborate on the rotation for this build? check the link you mentioned, but that ends with 'Up next, affliction rotations, and how-to raid as affliction!' which is non existent :( I did find a post recommending Haunt, UA, Imm, Coor, Curse of Agony and SL. Now, my question is do I just hang out and keep spamming that rotation? Noticed that by the time I am done with the rotation Haunt is just about up as well as UA, I might have time for 1 or 2 SB's. - Oli |

You need to use SB as a 'Flller' spell. Open up with SB>Haunt(To get 2 stacks of SE)>UA>Immo>Corr>Curse of Agony>SiLi Haunt will be off cooldown so recast that and you should have time for 2-3 SB before UA and Immo need recasting. Haunt takes care of corruption by refreshing it so you don't have to worry about that. You then just need to keep up with recasting dots and throwing a SB whenver time permits. Don't clip any dots, especially Curse of Agony. Immo and UA have very similar timings so always cast them together. Once the boss is below 25% hp drop Immo from your rotation and cast drain soul as a filler. Most importantly don't let Haunt drop off, recast it as soon as it's off cooldown. |
