I think some of you are missing the point here. I was die hard affliction from level 10 to level 80, up until i started Ulduar, and whilst i was gearing through Naxx 10, i changed to destruction and my dps was significantly lower. Yes this is compared to affliction, not 41/30, BUT the point is i changed back then when i had mostly naxx25 and Ulduar gear, with the 2 set bonus from T7.5 and 2 set bonus from T8 and T8.5, i changed again and saw a dps increase.

The reason these 'experts' say that 41/30 is better as a atarting build when you hit 80 is because it scales better with lower end gear. However destruction scales loads better with the better gear. Like someone said, you will lose spell power and haste if you change to destruction, but the higher end gear tends to stack alot of haste and spell power, as well as gem sockets, so you have plenty of space there to make it up. There is no reason in end game (that is, Ulduar) you should be doing less. It is all about scaling. Do not go by test dummy dps alone because you do not benefit from demonic pact, or any boomkin or shaman buffs present. As well as paladin, priest buffs and so on.

Change to destro once your gear is good enough to support it, once it does, your dps will be insane, i promise you.
