As always, I am looking at resources on the web at how to improve my role as a warlock. I was looking at Ensidia's website yesterday, and I was interested to hear what Buzzkill and Hams had to say about their spec and buffs. Here is Buzzkill's non-suppression Dest Build: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft (he has a similar one where he takes 2 points out of Fel Synergy and 1 out of Demonic Power and puts them into Suppression). Some things to note (if I can summarize their forum): 1. Warlocks should keep COE and COW up on the MoBs, regardless of raid composition. Main reason is they last a long time (5min and 2min respectively), they remain active even if the caster dies, and finally they are talent independent, meaning that unholy dks and boomkins could opt to not spec into imp ff and ebon blade if they so desire. If it is a DPS race, they will use their DPS curses (Curse of Agony, CoD), but no fight in Ulduar has required the slight DPS over raid utility. 2. One lock should always have Imp HS. It is a raid wide benefit. 3. If you have access to Soul Link, get it and use it. It is 20% more damage you can take. 4. Don't bother with Soul Leech. It is redundant with what other classes provide (i.e. healers are keeping everyone healed and shadow priests and shamans are keeping mana regen). Plus Life Tap whenever you move so you should not have mana problems. 5. Grim Reach (affl) and Destructive Reach (dest) are a must in Ulduar. For me, I found these comments interesting as they are quite different than most of the information found here, at EJ and on the WOW forums. I am certainly no expert and I am not saying Buzz and Hams are any more knowledgeable about the class than many of the experts here and on EJ, but it is interesting to read about their perspective. Here is a link to the warlock forums on Ensidia's website: Warlock - Ensidia. |

Re: Buzzkill Dest Build
That's because their aim is different. Since Ensidia raids bosses while being undergeared for it, they concentrate on survivability much more than EJ. Whereas EJ is all about the max dps you can put out. Why else do you never see people talking about the amazing DPS Ensidia locks put out? They're not bad locks, they just have a different focus. Soul Leech in and of itself is a bad talent, but ISL lowers the number of taps you need, upping yoru DPS. Soul Link is a good talent to help out healers, but again, does nothing for your DPS, same with Imp HS, CoE and CoW. Mind you, DK's should be specced into Ebon Plaguebringer as it is a great DPS boost to Unholy Builds, and Unholy is their best DPS spec with good gear.

Re: Buzzkill Dest Build
I ran with that build quite a lot, but why did he take +10%stam (demonic embrace) instead of -6% damage(molten skin) ? -damage = -needed heals |

Re: Buzzkill Dest Build
Effective Health wise, +10% stam is better.

Rutiene explained it, Ensidia's aim is to get world first they don't get this by waiting around until everyone has best in slot, they try things while technically undergeared. some of the talents they took help them to survive and that's about it in the case of stam i guess you can argue that more hp = more room for LT = less chance of you being gibbed by <random 900000 damage spell of doom> |

Re: Buzzkill Dest Build
Yes. Effective health is a tanking concept, one that I was introduced to when I started tanking on my DK. Basically having a large buffer is better than getting mitigation. Although mitigation is good. But when said mitigation is less than the buffer.. (or even the same), the buffer will always win out.
