3.1 Destro with ISL and Suppression?

I was wondering if I could get some advice on where cuts can be made if someone feels they need both Suppression and ISL. I recently had to change from deep affliction to destro with ISL for my guild. I have loved playing affliction and have centered my gear around suppression and other affliction talents. So I would really like to keep suppression for the hit.

I understand some dps will be sacrificed for this to be possible, but how can I mitigate this effect the best?

I have settled on 3/12/56 http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#IcZcu0h0bZVbGVr0uVsAfct:zqT thinking that the SP from Demonic Aegis is better than the crit and occasional instant cast from Backlash.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!*

* comments such as "you need more hit gear" or "your guild can't tell you how to play your lock! Play aff if you want to!" will not be considered helpful.

Thanks!

Re: Destro with ISL and Suppression?

Until you can get your hands on more hit gear, taking suppression will be a greater dps increase than skipping backlash will be a dps loss.

Since you do have ISL, I'd skip the life tap glyph. I would use Incinerate, Immolate, Conflagrate for glyphs.

get more hit gear... (sorry, your last sentence triggered this)

build looks ok, you could take one point out of destr. reach and into backlash to further minimize the dps loss. I don't see any other talents where you could take points from, they all seem more important.

ISL rank one is enough for you and your guild?

btw, you could also experiment with rank 1 & 2 supression... hit food and stuff, or a gem here and there... basically you can always trade 1% crit (backlash) for 1% hit (supression) via talent points.

Hi Lorewalk,

I am not answering your question as posted, but this may help more than a direct response.

Drop Suppression. If you raid w/ a boomkin or Shadow Priest, either one will provide +3% to hit (Imp FF or Misery). This will make your present 368 hit adequate for +3 bosses. If you can not count on a Shadow Priest or balanced Druid, I suspect you are still better off from a DpS standpoint to drop suppression and supplement w/ +hit items. Since I do not know what items are available to you, please check the numbers with what upgrades are available to you.

HTH,

Tom

Damn WD is awesome! such quick responses!

Um yeah sorry, I tried to edit the link so that it shows the build with 2 points in ISL and 2 points in Demonic Aegis.
I do understand that more hit gear would be ideal and as my gear improves I could see that happening . But there is a part of me that wants to leave the door open to move back to affliction I guess. Thus my predicament.

This feedback is great! Keep it coming.

Re: Destro with ISL and Suppression?

Just use your hit gear for destro and your non hit gear for affliction.

I keep 4 sets of gear on me, 6% for PvP, 11% for 25man guild raids as affliction, 14% for 25man guild runs as destro, and 17% for pug groups.

3.1 Re: Destro with ISL and Suppression?

Holy Respecs Batman!

ok so i took your advice and did some tinkering and I have my sash of guzbah with an extra hit gem in it (+69 hit overall). This gets me 16.66% and with hit food im at 18%. Or i have a sash of mortal desire with an sp gem and that adds 39 sp (with fel armor). (while leaving me at 14% hit.)

so it seems like I am really splitting hairs as far as getting 3% extra crit found in backlash.

Does anyone think i will suffer horribly if I opt for the SP? Or am i just thinking in affliction terms?

Well I personally use a 0/13/58 spec and only run with 340 hit. I kinda depend on a spriest or boomkin in the raid (Uncommon to not have one of them!) and a space goat in my group helps.

I think suppression is a decent talent but not too worth it. My 340 hit is easy to get and strictly comes from gear and the icewalker enchant.

Also dropping a point in Demonic Aegis makes your fel armor not scale as well with spirit which can be quite useful considering a lot of lock gear has spirit on it.
