I am currently specced 53 0 18 affliction. I have just gotten a lot of new gear and find myself wayyy over the hit cap with my gear. I am currently specced into suppression, so I obviously want to drop that but Im not sure whether I should go with increased range on affliction spells or fel concentration for reduced pushback or anything else. Anybody have suggestions? armory link hasnt updated my gear as of tonight, but anyways: The World of Warcraft Armory |

If you find fel concentration useful I would go with it. I personally find improved drain soul to be useful in raid situations because it does lower your threat which can get out of hand, especially in affliction. For instance if your DoTs start ticking out of control just send out a lil drain soul should soul shatter be on cd. The mana back is a nice perk too. But also keep in mind you have the option to pick up suppression should you fall farther below the hit cap. Maybe get some better itemized gear to increase your spell power. Another SP trink instead of mark fo the war prisoner maybe? I'm iffy about Grim Reach because you would still have to move closer for shadow bolts, making it kinda useless. Maybe put the last point in shadowburn. It has just a lil burst which can be good for adds as affliction doesn't offer many burst tool. You may have to keep 1 point in fel concentration or suppression for advancement down the tree however. Here is how I would put the points: The World of Warcraft Armory |

Re: Help me with affliction spec
I'm not sure, but do you really need fel concentration in a raid setting? I mean, if you need pushback reduction in a raid, doesn't that mean the tanks are doing something wrong? Again, I'm not sure but just my 2c. Maybe you can put it in improved healthstone for some raid utility? P.S. what does that mean anyway? "just my 2c" |

"Just my two cents", pretty much means your personal opinion or thought on the situation. could also use "imo" (in my opinion)

Re: Help me with affliction spec
i thought you used it in more of a question form than an opinion. "doesn't that mean the tanks are doing something wrong?" is a question not an opinion. In Ulduar there is quite a bit of raid damage compared to naxx. My quest is why does raid damage effect our casting time but doesn't seem to proc things like the backlash talent in the destro tree? Or is it such a low chance of it procing that it never does from some shockwave or aoe from the boss. Only time it seems to proc is when i'm being physically hit by something but usually i don't have the gcd time to use the proc before i'm dead in that situation.

I would get rid of the point in cataclysm and put it in Fel Synergy. It really helps keeping the pet alive in some fights. As for Fel concentration. I haven't really noticed any advantage outside of PVP. If something is bashing on you in PVE something is wrong. I would put atleast some of those points in Improved Drain Soul. If you have some alternative gear with less hit rating you could always spec into suppresion again. You could for instance swap out your Mark of the War Prisoner without any ill effect by putting a few points back into suppression. Also keep in mind your raid setup. Do you get inspiring presence during raids? Do you have a shadow priest or moonkin druid debuffing your target? |
