There are several ways to improve on this: 1) Drop Improved Shadow Bolt. You won't be throwing SBs anyway as deep Destro, so those 5 points are useless where they are. 2) Take Demonic Power to increase the effectiveness of your imp. This talent synergizes well with Empowered Imp. 3) Definitely take Intensity and Backlash. You'll need the pushback resistance and increased crit. 4) Shadowburn really is unnecessary. That point is better spent elsewhere. If you're looking for group utility in the form of Improved Healthstone, try this build: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft |

Re: destruction build
i agree with lopennie, unless you havnt got 466hit. this value reduces if you run with classes that increase your hit rating. there isnt much hit on the HC gear tho so take 3 out of improved soul leach and put them in suppression. i also took 1 out of soul leech and put it in destructive reach, the reduced threat is very useful ime. Re: destruction build
Hi Zeni That looks a bit similar to my current spec... ![]() Like flyingade suggests, I'd recommend trying to save up hit-gear and lose suppression asap... As you're rarely using affliction spells, the mana reduction is practically worthless and there are better ways to get your hit-cap. As Ugro says too, shadowburn is something that you will rarely use. It costs a HUGE chunk of mana and you'd have to time it perfectly to get the soulshard, so it'd be better to leech it anyway if you need one. (Have just noticed I've specced for this and never use it... see below)... If you're raiding, your guildies/raid people will love you for having anything that gives replenishment, so Improved Soul Leech will be appreciated! ![]() Fel Synergy will help to keep whatever pet you use alive too... I find that REALLY handy... Like 'locks, pets can't dps if dead... :P On a related note: I'm finding it very hard trying to convince my guildies that, as a destruction lock I don't use shadowbolt... They're asking me to look into a respec and take 5 points in that talent, even if I "just throw in one SB every 30 seconds to get the effect!" I get the impression they think I'm being really selfish not doing that, because it will buff the rest of the raid's damage... I AM going to respec (I've noticed that I don't use one of the spells I talented for at all (shadowfury as mentioned above), so I can use that point somewhere and am likely to swap to the recommended 0/13/58 spec, rather than my 0/13/58 spec), but don't know if it's worth tweaking it so that I have that to keep them happy, or if you think that, in the long-run, the extra DPS I get from being specced well for me, will make up for the lack of extra crit this would give... (I could put a timer on somewhere to remind me to cast it every 30 secs)... Anyone else had this problem...? I don't want to let the guildies down, but don't want to waste talent points on something that doesn't really help... |

Yup, not too long ago, we only had one fire mage so I rolled affliction. That way we still had the debuff if one of us died. At the time, I roughly calculated the debuff to be worth ~3,000 in raid dps. So yeah, sacrificing 300-500 personal dps for 3,000 raid dps was worth it. |

OK, please be kind ![]() I am tearing my hair out trying to understand what I am doing wrong. I ran with another lock whose overall gear score is lower than mine and who I have 99% copied his spec. Here's mine - The World of Warcraft Armory My spell rotation is CoE, Immo, Chaos Bolt, Incin, Incin, Incin, Incin (Incin until time to replenish Immo) then repeat What gets me, is that the other lock does a little over 4K and I'm stuck at around 2.8-3.1 K. What am I doing wrong? Everyone that I have consulted with says I should be doing 4.5-5K with my spec and what I am geared with?! What am I missing? Appreciate your kind words of wisdom!!! your forgetting the most important ability....conflagerate. your rotation should be CoE (or CoD depending on situation) immo, conflag, chaos bolt and spam incinerate. the reason why conflag is important is because 1.) it's your best damage dealer and 2.) it procs pyroclasm (which you can read about under your destro talents) which increases fire damage 6%. I think now you should be putting up some good numbers :P also, make sure you get the proper glyphs. glyph of immo, glyph of incinerate and glyph of conflag. |
