To some extent, you are right. You should play what you like. However when it comes to the point that the spec you like has 1k dps less than what you could do with a different spec, you are making the raid harder for the whole group...
Just imagine your tank is not using the best tanking spec and will die every other time because of that... would you think this is a good situation?

Concerning affliction, and warlocks in general, ToC is not a very friendly raid instance.
Northrend beasts is quite ok, but still requires adds switching and unloading lots of dps during debuff phases (icehowl).
Jaraxus (heroic in particular) is all about killing the portals as soon as possible, and burning down the adds. Not a good fight to be affliction, and not dps'ing the adds is not an option to be honest, at least you want to throw a shadow bolt at them and CoE so the rest of your casters have the damage + crit debuffs available.
Faction champions is a crazy encounter anyways...
Twin's is ok for locks again, but more bursty specs and classes benefit more from the empowered darkness/light buffs and so will do a better job.
Anub again requires dps'ing adds a lot which is bad for any spec that uses a lot of dots (shadow priests!)

In general ToC is a very melee friendly instance... not good for our position on the meters, but we still do the important jobs.

Affliction is a good spec for Jarraxux, you have multiple targets to dot, which is always great. It completely sucks on the hard mode version though as it's about burst damage on portal/volcano and affliction is the most horrible spec out of all the specs the pure dps classes have for that purpose. There's a good chance a feral tank will have more damage done on those portals/volancos then an affliction warlock.

Not bringing the 5% crit deubff to a 25 men raid is outright silly. A better spec to provide that is demon though, if you have a mix of ulduar and cc25 gear, reading 3500 spellpower in raid buffs/flasked is not difficult at all and that spits on the shaman totem already. With ulduar hard mode/good CC25 gear going above 4000 is also no problem and at that point running a demon warlock in a 25 men raid becomes mandatory, comparable to late The Burning Crusade's enhancement shaman. You won't win any damage meter yourself but you provide both a stupidly powerful spellpowerbuff and 5% crit, so it's really a no brainer.
