Should of Warcraft institute a Loan form in TBC?
As many of us do we lend out money to people and a majority is guildmates. Though what about your friend outside the guild? You want to give him money but your not really sure if you want to lend him the gold.
Let's face it, gold is a valued currency to the players we know this much since people are actually paying legal tender for it. So when someone doesn't get their gold back it is in the same form of losing their legal tender.( I mean just incase your confused, people are working hard for their gold like a job and to lose it is the same as getting your wallet stolen.) The standard reply is, "Well you should better think of who you lend money too." Was the response a GM gave my friend, who gave this guy over a course of 2 weeks 30g on a promise he would help him out and pay back. When my friend decided to ask him for a run through SM he told him he wasn't going to help. When my friend asked for his money he told him he wasn't going to pay him back and promptly ignored him. I at first was unaware at first but hearing this story made my blood boil, and it brough this idea. Why doesn't WoW have a loan policy. A contract binding the borrower and payee that if Borrower borrows XX amount that the due date set forth by the Payee will be paid on that day. If the money isn't distributed to the player who loaned the money. The Borrower would notice a percentage of the loot he takes, or AH sales, or any income of money would be picked apart at a hasty pace to pay the other player back. Now what if you just want to give a guy some money? The loan interface would be seperate from a trade screen. If you chose to give money to someone through trade then you're accepting the fact it might never be returned, as in the Loan Interface would make sure you get your money back by taking it from the players loot and sales if not paid on the due date. I think if Blizzard implemented this, it would cut back on the many people getting ****ed by ignorant assholes. |

Re: Should of Warcraft institute a Loan form in TBC?
Unfortunately, in an online community like this one, where anonomity is so easily achieved, a loan system just plain would not work. Even if you tied it to a persons account, instead of characters, it still would not work.
For example, I borrow 100g from stranger A, I then commence borrowing 100g from 19 more people, I end up with 2000g. Ok, so now I give this gold to another character, or even another account. Cancel/Delete my character/account, and where do the strangers get their money back from? Blizzard can't give you the money, because that would add an inordinate amount of inflation. Without some sort of security, a system of loans would never work. -Sorry for some rambling, had a few ideas to get out, and not enough time to formulate them into a concise arguement. |
