My dilemma is over!

Finally, after an anguishing 30 minutes on Sunday 9th May 2004 pondering and scheming about which race/class i would be best suited to... i have discovered!

I shall be....


A Night Elf Warrior!

Okay reasons shall be explained in due course...

I was never really the casting type in RPG's, always an outright killer and barbarian. I really wanted to be a warlock/mage, but alas there were no races with the exception of Humans that i liked - and i'm always Humans in RPGs and i needed a change. And so after coming back to my original dilemma after i carefully analyzed Troll screenshots... i decided, sorry Trolls, your not for me. I wanted to be a Night Elf all along, and i knew this, because they look totally awesome and the Night Elf women have such sexy ears! However i'm veering off topic there, more time to fondle some NE ears later... I was thinking, hmm, druid? If only druids had a wolf form i would choose that, but alas they don't. Hmm... Priest? Yeah priests look VERY nice and look fun to play, however the heavy reliance on being a healer all the time pushed a gap between my affection for the class.

And so the dilemma was huge... i like absolutely no races that have the classes i wish to play!
I was looking on World of Azeroth and WoW Vault to seek enlightenment on my problem, but to no avail. I then returned mildly depressed to the WoW beta site. I looked through all the classes then finally clicked on Warrior. I started to drift... and remembered some of my favourite heroic fantasy novels which i have read (Trust me, i've read ALOT of them!). Druss the Axeman sleeping up against a tree, a fire blazing whilst his horny poet companion, Sieben, eat by the fire. Resting after a long day of battle...
Radu the Loner hiding in caves living off deer that he hunted, roasting them on a fire...
Diarmuid the Prince drinking obsessively with his band of warriors in the Inn, fornicating with the local barmaids and telling jokes and warstories...

All some of my favourite fantasy characters, written and thought up by their respective authors (Gemmell, Lumley and Gavriel Kay), and i realized... This is what i want my character to be like! I want to be like these people in WoW, i want to do the things they do. What do they all have in common? They are Warriors, Wanderers, Adventurers... everything WoW encompasses! And so i decided... hell why NOT be a warrior? I am always a Human Barbarian-type player in these games, why ever change? And so i decided a change of race and a change of motive would do the trick... a Wandering Night Elf Warrior!

Sorry if it was all abit heavy winded, i'm very passionate about making a character that will truely suit me and how i percieve a game to be is largely based on how i can relate to my character. Hope you got at least some mild enjoyment from reading this post... i know my wrists are bloody killing from writing this!

Glad to hear you have settled on a class. With the thought put behind your decision it will most likely make you happier in the end. There is nothing better than playing a character you are passionate about and getting the race / class combo down can be a tricky one.

Being Night Elf we can still group together too... you can be the tough tank while I nuke from over there... behind that bushy tree... with just my staff poking out ;)

Yeah took me long enough to settle! I will be much happier now. Now that the main selection is over, i can start to work out my tradeskills more precisely...

And you can hide behind a bushy tree IF you let me play with your Succubus after the battle :lol: .

I'll still be a warlock though.....

However your post made me think a little(yeah yeah)...
Cause i've also allways been the warrior type of character in rpg's...or atleast had a caster melee skills for first priority...
In D2 --> Barbarian
Knights online --> warrior
NWN --> Cleric(used primarely to buff his attack...)

So my history also says something else...

And onething more...I think you should choose your character from class and race as seconday...

I disagree. I desperately wanted to be a Warlock, but there were no races i liked with a warlock in. At least if i'm with the race i primarily like i can be happier than if i was a race that i hated the look of.

you may still change your mind be amazed how many times i have changed my mind on which class i would like to play first :p

Wanted to have my first crit to be a warlock now i would love to get a Pally as my first crit

God i know! I will probably change my mind in 30 minutes if i'm lucky, but i'm reasonably contented with this decision for now so...

Most of the time i play all Melee based crit, just becuase i rather enjoy face to face battles more then throwing stuff from a far at monsters

i am pretty much set on the weapon to i would use two handed mace
And if i had a warrior i would love to go with an Axe

Yeah i love axes... my favourite weapons. I may go with some sort of huge double handed claymore, but will probably end up with some sort of axe at the end of the day(my avatar on the left is clue enough that i love axes)! :D

My problem is what race i would like to be Human or a dwarf

i think i heard they were redoing the bonuses for every class, but without any racisal advanges would problay go with a Human

Only reason would be i have to look at the Crit for a long time so he bettter be decently good loooking
