Re: Very frustrated!

I liked Desolace a lot on one of my characters I leveled there. I would think affliction warlocks would love the open spaces if using fear and running around dot'ing. While there was some ganking, it seemed more than most places that Desolace is where both sides go if they don't want any trouble. Grinding in Desolace is night and day compared to STV and Hillsbrad if you don't want much PVP action.

One nice thing about the game is there are enough places that if you don't like your current surroundings you can go somewhere else to level. I try to level my characters in different spots to see different parts of the world, since otherwise I'd have to question myself even more about whether the game is fun or not. If you don't like where you are, look on a WoW world map with level ranges for each zone and go to a different zone.

Same thing with flightpaths. Just internet search for a flightpath map and you can see where the closest one is to where you want to be.

Re: Very frustrated!

There are some quests out of Southshore that take you to Alterac Mountains for level 37ish.

37-38 in Arathi Highlands.

38 you could do some quests in Duskwallow Marsh.

38-40 in STV. May be part of some string quests you started earlier.

If you are killing Mobs at or above your level, Badlands may be an option at around 39.

Re: Very frustrated!

My goal is to find a place to grind on mob's 1-3 lvls above me, so that puts it at 38-41. I dunno, maybe a 41 would destroy me, I was able to take down a 37 Elite outside Alterac as a 36. I don't know how many levels I should add on to what I could kill because that guy was an elite.

Anyways, I found that James Guide very helpful and I think I am heading to Desolace tonight to knock out those quests.

You should be able to successfully down a mob 4 levels higher than your current level. Anything higher than that though and you are going to be very frustrated by the sheer number of resists that get thrown your way. 2-3 levels above you is probably the best in terms of minimizing downtime and maximizing xp. For your level, I'd head out to STV and get through your early 40s and then head to Tanaris and Feralas. STV really isn't that bad in terms of quests--but be ready to have many pvp situations come up. Once you ding 40 and pay a whopping 90s for your Felsteed spell, things get a little easier .

If you want to grind, definitely go to Badlands. There are more mobs in concentrated areas there than in any other place this side of the Dark Portal. Thick as thieves they are!

damn how could I have forgotten... kill the rock elementals, or whatever they are called. 2 different groups of them depending on your level. one north of the horde town and one to the western edge and middle part of the map (higher levels here). they drop stones and rocks that vendor pretty well, as well as elemental earth which auctioned for a nice chunk on my server. If you dont mind grinding, you can get quite a bit of gold here. I think I was getting 3 - 5 gold an hour or so? plus whatever I got from the elemental earth.

hmm. that doesnt really seem like a good hourly gold rate anymore. but at 39 that was a fortune to me heh.

Re: Very frustrated!

I'll agree that Desolace is grim, but trust me, there are loads of quests to be had and the silver drops are really good...it's worth it, just bang out 5 or 6 quests there then get the hell out! . Definitely Desolace and STV to level.

I disagree with goiing to Badlands at this stage...they will eat you alive!!

Re: Very frustrated!

I liked Badlands in that range. I found the travel time in STV annoying pre-mount. Badlands is wide open with dense monsters and many local quests. Uldaman instance is there too. As afflic, the frequent adds kept it exciting but manageable. At least one excellent quest chain starts in Theramore (hearthstone there).

p.s. but don't wander too far west, and remember doggie animals like to call for reinforcements.

oops. that should be eastern edge, not western.
