Primal farming

It seems like a big part of this game now is World of Mote farming. Anyone have any good spots to farming primals? Try to state the area, mob fought, and technique used for the motes you are farming.

I'll start with water.

Primal Water is one of the more expensive primals on the market, but I've found that a warlock can farm these really easily from Shimmerscale Eels. As shown in the map in the link, these eels are located in the lake just northwest of Shattrath City, and just north of Cenarion Thicket. They are level 62-63 and very easy to kill having just a tad over 2K HP. From my experience farming, drop about 3-4 motes every 10 kills.

I've found that two dots (Corruption and Curse of Agony) are more than enough to kill these guys, so just dot them up and let them trail you. They aren't too fast swimmers and only have a light dazing attack. I've found that a Demonic Sacrifice build with a VW sac works extremely well, and any Affliction lock should have an easy time as well.

As long as you have two instant DoTs you should be fine no matter what spec you are. Another thing is that these guys do evade bug if you go too fast, but usually you can dot up like 5-6 and kill them all within 45 seconds. The narrow end of the lake is really populated with these guys so you can grab a fair bit of them. The most important thing though is just to keep on the move, and only loot once you 've killed 5+.

Awesome farming spot for a warlock in my opinion, as one night I farmed about 23 primals in 3 hours.

If you have high fishing skill, you can run around and fish up about 3-4 primals in about 20min in Nagrand. There are 6 spawn points on the elemental plateau and around the same number on the rivers below the horde town. Each set will respawn every 1hr. Best to hit them up during the day or late at night.

For primal fires, I kill fire elementals in the center of Shadowmoon Valley. The elemental plateau is generally too crowded. An alternative spot is in northern Blades Edge Mtns.

The shimmerscale eels are an incredible spot to farm motes of water -- especially for warlocks. I spent a lot of time there when I was making my Frozen Shadoweave set. You can pretty much swim all over the place casting instant dots.

Here is my favorite screenshot from that place. Almost two primals in 5 minutes!

Of course, that's not typical. But I would average 4-6 primals an hour there.

A better spot, if you have a flying mount, is Skettis in southeastern Terrokar. I can make 5-8 primals an hour there, and it's usually not camped at all. Until now probably

Can't remember the source, but word is that with the 2.1.0 patch, the mote drop rate on these shimmerscale eels is getting nerfed, so get farming while the farming's good.

Ouch...that's a bummer. Anyone found a good place for primal air?

Re: Primal farming

I just logged after getting 2 primals worth of motes from there lol. I get good stretches where I can just keep chaining up kills and having the lil buggers trail behind me. It's a shame to hear the drop rate is getting kicked down, though. Hopefully I'll have all the water primals to finish my Frozen Shadoweave set, at least. Those suckers go for about 20g per on my server, so I can easily make 100g an hour grinding those things. That's about the only hope I have of buying an epic mount

Motes of Air can be farmed in Shadowmoon valley, near the Altar of Shadows. That's where the Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit is (where you do the Gorefiend quest line).

Re: Primal farming

Many say that best for primal farmin is elemental plateau. Well imo that is totall false, cause usually there is like 6 people on 5 mobs, and I am not excited about hard PvP while farming, so imo that place sucks. I prefere netherstorm / shadowmoon for most motes. That is netherstorm is for mana (kirin'var), shadowmoon for fire (hand of gul'dan), air (near altar of shadows). Water terokkar (skettis) and life zangarmarsh (bog lords near sporeggar).

Re: Primal farming

Where else can one get Primal Waters? Skettis is going to become a quest hub when the patch hits, so would like to find out if there's any other places other than fishing.

Um...nvm. I'm still waking up. lol

Re: Primal farming

Well mate I can tell you that after patch, there will be no calm places for primal water farming imo. Elemental Plateau, Skettis & Eels are only places besides fishing I know. And well ... Elemental Plateau is simply overcrowded usually, shimmerscale (or how was it) eels will have droprate reduced (as someone told) besides that place is lower place to get motes + involved in quest too and Skettis will be crowded after patch I guess.
