Things a Warlock should know and possess...
Hi All, I’m new to this game. I’ve played only one character so far and I’ve been on WoW for just a few months. I’m not too sure what I should be wearing and what should be my “weapons”. Are there any important milestones in the life of my character that I could be missing? I was recommended to join a guild. I read a little about them, and I’m not ready for that yet. I hope by joining this community that I will find some answers to my questions. Here is a little more about me. I’m a level 54 Blood Elf Warlock. 95% of the time, I play alone. Sometime I party with random players for group quests. Because of that, I’ve decided that it would be good to be demonologist and have good pets to help me questing. I got my mount and I have to say it has changed the gaming speed. It is good. I’m in enchanting and tailoring. I have also 1st aid but haven’t done much with it yet. I’ve been wearing the same robe since level 32. I think it should be time to change for something that smells better. If I’m not wrong, you can found out more about my character in The Armory. I would like to try more dungeons, but since I’m not in a guild, it is kind of hard to find an opened party to join for just one instance. I hear that I could advance my enchanting skills by meeting a particular NPC. Any advice or help will be welcome. Daimonas / Thrall Last edited by Akasha; June 13, 2007 at 11:10 PM.. Re: Things a Warlock should know and possess...
Daimonas, It's funny, because your story is just like mine when I started, including tailoring, enchanting, no guild and soloing most of the time. I would highly recommend joining a guild, as you can bounce a lot of questions that you might have off of the people in your guild. Instance runs would be easier and grouping for quests could be accomplished with just a quick message most of the time. I took a quick look at your profile and I would recommend that you create a shadoweave set of clothing for yourself to add some much needed shadow bonus damage to your DOT spells. Now I was an affliction lock until I hit 60, so shadow bonus damage meant a lot more to me than it may to you, but I still wouldn't discount having it. For your enchanting, have you been inside of the Uldaman instance? The trainer ther can unlock the 225+ level for your enchanting if you haven't. Since the BC release, you can also get someone to port you to Shattrath city in Outland, where an enchanter trainer can also be found. If you were on my server, I would send you a guild invite, but I'm sure you will be fine. Playing with others is the most enjoyable experience that you can have within the game IMO. Maybe one of the people you are grouping with on quests belongs to a guild and you can get an invite from them? Good luck! |

Re: Things a Warlock should know and possess...
i havent been playing for that long either, but i can offer a few things. join a guild if you can find one. I ran an instance with someone I enjoyed, and they asked if i wanted to join their guild, i figured "why not" and did. Its a small guild, but if I ask for help theyll do their best. you really have nothing to lose in joining a guild, its up to you how active you want to be, and eventually you'll be more comfortable in it. run a couple instances, even if theyre pugs. pugs are hit or miss, but instances are usually a lot of fun either way, plus you have a chance at getting some better gear. If youre having problems getting a group together, whisper a couple people or ask over the group channel, usually if you do the work to get the group together people will join. also, by running instances with random people, youll find some that you really like, and that could lead to a guild you may enjoy also. i joined a group, not realizing that they only needed me to finish a couple quests, but bargained with them and said i'd stay if they would help me with mine. we finished their quests fine, but when it came to mine it was a disaster. we had to reset the instance and the priest left, ending in a couple wipes halfway through. i never finished my quest, and the others felt terrible, but i found 3 of the nicest players on my server, and now we quest and run instances together all the time. i consider myself a noob and a loner in the game, but when you find other people either as noobish as you are or as helpful and fun as others the game becomes so much more enjoyable. |

Re: Things a Warlock should know and possess...
You are level 54 now. I suggest you grind your way to 58 and head out to outland. The first few quest will change 80% of your wardrobe with green that are usually more powerful than your blues. But if you need gears now to progress, look at Canadianpimp's gear guide and a good idea of what to get. You need to visit Uldaman to find this "tome raider" lady to level your enchant but I always find it a pain to gather a group there simply because nobody likes going there. Having a guild helps as they might give you a hand if you need to go Uldaman. When you get to 60, the mount is even better, though you need gold and a group willing to help you get it. Again guild helps come in handy. So go out there and ask if any guild is looking for people and willing to help, or grp with randoms and if you like them, ask if you can join their guild. Re: Things a Warlock should know and possess...
At level 58, getting into Uldamann via the back entrance to access the enchanter trainer should be a breeze... The back entrance is located at 66, 43 (near Dustwind Gulch; cave marked on map) and the NPC you are looking for is called Annora. You will need to clear the mod of scorpions at her location before she appears. Here is a very simple guide for you as you will want to grab all the recipies and level while your there with her once to save you going back in. http://www.the-best-wow-guides.com/enchanting.php Good luck. |

One thing to add - level up your 1st aid - bandages are very usefull sometimes. Also when raiding there are moments, when healers can't help you and potions/HS are on cooldown. |

If at level 58 you can go to outlands then why on earth would you go to Uldaman to level your enchanting? There are trainers for all levels in Thrallmar/Honor hold.

Re: Things a Warlock should know and possess...
I endorse the comments about joining a guild - I got one of the guildies to port me to Shatt so that I could level my enchanting and therefore help the other guildies with high level enchants. I have also done instance runs with the guild, and it is much much easier to get them to help once you want to do the Outland ones. My guild also joined me in Scholo and DM to help with collecting the mats for the dreadsteed quest. They had keys to get in as well, which I could have taken advantage of, but I made the effort to get the keys and did as much as I could on my own before I enlisted their help. Now that I have the dreadsteed mats I am holding on to them in the event of someone else needing them, and will help when it comes to them doing the quest. I still do pugs for some instances (DM to get the key only), plus Strat a few times and hopefully BRD, etc soon, but the help you get being in a good guild cannot be under estimated (emphasis here on good!) I helped out a fellow lock in my guild last night on his infernal quest - the small things you do for others in situations like this really makes a big difference to the people you help, and I know that he will be willing to reciprocate in the future (although saying that, he summoned me to GZ once to help me out!) |
