making the gold

So I hit 70 not all that long ago. Between my flying mount, leveling tailor, crafting some gear, and paying for enchants I am now completely broke. I probably spent over 3000g on all of this stuff, and it was money that I had been saving up over many months. So now I want to get my epic flier, as well as a few more enchants that I need but I have no cash at all. What ever am I to do?

I was just screwing around on line last night and I came across some guide. I forget the guy's actual name but it was basically called "Bob Slob's Guide to Farming Gold." It was one of these guides that you need to buy and it had all these claims about making x money per day with his tried and true methods. I thought to myself "it sure would be awesome if I could make x money per day." But the odds of me paying $47.50 to buy some dude's guide are approximately equal to zero. I figure there have got to be some decent people out there that are willing to share good money making tips without asking for my $47.50.

So I need to come up with 5000g for a mount and some enchants as well. That's not to mention I still want Spellstrike gear too. So I was hoping that people on here could share some of their tips for making gold as quickly as possible.

Right now I am doing 2 daily quests. I haven't unlocked the Blade's Edge dailies yet. I am also 375 mining and I do make decent money selling adamantite bars, but it can be fairly inconsistent at times.

Any ideas what I should be doing? My financial limits are currently hindering my gear progression and I really want to get passed that, way more than I want a speedy bird to cruise on. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: making the gold

There's someone on this forum who mentioned grinding the Blood Elves at the Black Temple. I tried it out, and it kicks ***.

The drops include a fair amount of money, trash loot, the occasional Greens and Blues, and last but not least - Netherweave Cloth. If you're a tailor, you will have no problems whatsoever turning these into bags which (on my server at least) will sell for about 7-9g a piece - fast.

Try it out. The mobs respawn fast as hell, so even if there's another person grinding there you can always go somewhere else in the area.

I forget, do they drop signets as well?

My mage was aldor (dont ask me why, i was drunk when i choose) and i found grinding deaths door was fantastic, the demons dropped fel aramaents at a respectable rate (between 4-9 an hour) plenty of marks, loads of cloth and cash, greens, some blues, basically everything i wanted.

Re: making the gold

Farming the heap in Netherstorm is a good money maker. Fair amount of gold, zaxis things for rep, keys for unlocking prisons which give greens and blues and the occassional green and blue drop from the mobs themselves. You could also farm mana motes at the far end over by cosmowrench. I can get between 6-10 primals an hour up there farming hard. On my server they sell for around 16G each. So that is also good money and substantially easier than farming some of the others.

And you have to get those blades edge dailies opened up. Thats another 48G or so a day for no more than 20-30 mins of work max.

Re: making the gold

This might be very server dependant, but I found a very profitable farm doing the Netherwing spiderweb run from Allerian stronghold, down to the very tip of the spider infested area and then back up again.

Just sold a stack of 9 such webs for 70G on the AH yesterday, and with a bit of luck that's a 30 min farm.

Doing motes of mana up in Wizards row in Nehterstorm can also be quite profitable, as the trashdrops alone quickly stack up to a whooping 6-12G vendor pop from 30ish min farming. Wizards row also had the benefit of having a vendor really close by, as ditching trash to clear out your inventory is essentially just throwing money out the window. (Atleast remember to keep the trash that stacks up)

Another way to make money that I've recently started looking into is the AH. I recently downloaded Auctioneer and was quite amazed at the efficient and easy way it lets you scan up a database of prices and (comparatively) quickly bid on cheap bids to resell.

I myself haven't really gone for the huge moneymaking deals as I'm afraid of loosing any money ;) , but have rather aimed to bid on many smaller auctions. On many I might get outbid and such, but even so I'll still end up with having quite a lot of auctions out there where each and everyone nets me a smallish sum of money.

Started fiddling away a couple of weeks a go, and have reinstalled Auctioneeer from scratch once which effectively erased my accumulated database of prices (which I then had to rebuild as you obvioulsy need a solid basis for bidding on anything), and so far I've made about 1,5-2K on the AH alone.

Re: making the gold

ok..now this is one thing i could never understand and if this comes off rude at all, i apologize ahead of time. how the hell can people not make the money for the epic mount and more so just shortly after hitting 70? i had 200 gold on me when BC first came out. I had tailoring and enchanting so i didn't have gathering skills to make even more money with. I just did every quest there was and then hit 70 and had all those quests in netherstorm and shadowmoon valley giving over 20 gold a pop since i didn't get xp from them anymore. use allakhazam to see which quest items sell to vendor for the most if you can't use any of them and sell your green drops to vendor or have a friend disenchant them for you too. you'll lose a ton of money if you try and sell those on the auction house with over 2 gold listing price a piece. staffs sell for over 8 gold a piece to vendor and that was in hellfire. i can't see how people are broke. i leveled tailoring up almost to 375 and enchanting to like 325, bought my epic mount, some netherweave gear for the pieces i hadn't got from a dungeon yet and had a ton of money left over. i bought 3 18 slot bags and the 28 slot shard bag and am sitting at 250 gold and still have a ton of quests to finish and never done the dailys.

making gold is so easy in outland. stop buying gear from the auction house and just get them from quests and dungeons. take up a gathering skill and have even more money. i wish i had skinning/mining or herb for 60 to 70. i could have a couple thousand more gold just sitting there if i had. again, i apologize if this came off as rude at all. it's just so easy to make gold in outland. just stop wasting money. a lot of gold is saved from not buying gear in the auction house or selling in the auction house, when you have uber quests and instance loot. the exception to selling items in the auction house are blues and epics of course.

Well you are right in many ways, however speaking for myself here I think my problem when it comes to making money is that I'm rather casual due to IRL things like wife and kids and such. And when I make room on my schedule to play it's mainly to raid.

The consequense of this is that my ingame time isn't sufficient to accomodate the extensive questing required to keep my income higher than my repairbill/raiding outcome. And thus I have to make good use of the ingame time I have outside raids to grind/AH-camp.

I also must say that after hitting 70 I found myself quite bored with doing x amount of "Kill 10 of these and then 20 of these" quests, and that I've found dailies to be both extremely dreary and overly timeconsuming.

But then again I guess it all comes down to personal preferrence.

I did no questing in zangermarsh, a little left in terrokar forest, didn't touch blades edge at all, and still have a ton left in netherstorm. Anytime I want some extra cash, I just spend an hour or two questing and it just pours in.
I've tried grinding and I find it extremely boring and considering how many more primal waters I need, I don't want to burn out my meager playtime just doing that. At least questing has some storyline to it.

many of us used all of the quest money at 70 to gear up, rather than spend it on being able to fly faster. at least, thats what I did. sure, +280% flight speed would be neat, but its much better to be able to out damage 95% of the server by a good bit. once I ran out of quests, that left grinding. I really hate grinding heh, so ill prolly never get my epic flyer, but that was the choice I made when i decided to go for DPS. every now and again I entertain the idea, but wow is supposed to be fun, and grinding 5k gold is not a fun thought.

Re: making the gold

A friend of mine got his epic flier in about two weeks of farming. He would go do his daily quests first, then he would go farm the warlocks up at Legion Hold which die fast and drop marks and fel armaments fairly quickly. Now this was in the middle of the summer when nothing else was really going on, but he got it done pretty fast.
