The small things in life...

are what really add up in the end.
Tiny change, huge impact on those of us who enjoy spending more time in the Auction Houses than we do anywhere else...including our real life jobs.

Quote:
The Auction house time periods have been changed. Now items can be put up for sale for 12, 24, or 48 hours. The option to put up items for 8 hours has been removed.
Sorting of auction house searches has been simplified so you can only sort by one column, and automatic sub-sorts have been created for those columns to be as useful as possible. In addition, sorting is now done on the server so as you page thru results, items will appear to be sorted across the entire results instead of just the page you’re looking at.
You can now send up to 12 items in a single mail message.

Ah, finally. No more buying something you immediately thought was a total bargain, only to see it cheaper four pages later. tsk tsk.

Re: The small things in life...

Looks like for those of us that like to play the market, those days will be gone.

I guess enough people were crying that it was not fair that some people took the time and effort to make Gold. Just like in real life.

You have those people that bust their butts making a living and then you have those that complain to the government that it is not fair that they have a nice house and car. They should not be able to have that because I don't.

So what does the government (Blizzard) do, Tax the hell out of the hard workers to pay for the lazy peoples benefits.

So those that took the initiative and spend the time and effort to make Gold get shafted. Oh, poor people that think that everyone should be the same. I got it; let’s make WOW a Socialist Environment. Everyone has the same gear, levels at the same rate and earns the same rewards. Yea! That’s it! These types of people make me sick!

Re: The small things in life...

These were taken from the patch notes on Blizzard's site.

Also, Carnos....what specifically about the changes means anything is 'leaving' for those who spend their time logged in playing the market? I don't think it will have any negative effects at all really. Clearly the changes are a progressive step towards a more sorted, organized auction house window....

It will still take the same amount of 'effort' or 'time' to acquire gold through the AH, since the economies of the various servers will probably go through their normal shifts and motions, I'm not flaming you, just curious as to where the angry post came from?

I hold to the point of view that The Burning Crusade more or less killed most of the economic gains that everyone had 'access' to on the servers. Many, many of the items I see in the auction house under level 60 that are Rare or better items, especially in regards to armor, are the lowest prices I've ever seen them, and seem to not even sell for the bottom-of-the-barrel prices they're at.

The same holds true for many trade goods that aren't involved in making crafted level 70 epics, they just aren't worth the time to farm, since the farming time : money gained ratio is so off kilter nowadays. Unless it's a primal, a specialized profession item, or an epic pattern/gem, it just doesn't sell that well. Exceptions would be things like Mithril Ore, some leathers, and perhaps various off-the-wall potions.

I really didn't have much trouble at all making money on my level 70, it's just that with the demands of the expansion, you're limited as to what you can farm that people are actually willing to buy, anymore. I remember selling runecloth for 5+ gold a stack, and even that was low-balling it. Currently, I've seen a total of 3-5 stacks on the AH in the past three weeks, 1-2G each stack, tops. There's just so much that people don't need, it puts farming to make any money into a very very small box.

while I am no expert, im relatively sure that adding a working sort to the auction house isn't really a Marxist or Socialist conspiracy on blizzards part.

Right, it's not. We'd all raise hell if ebay worked like that, so I'm not surprised that they're going to fix something that's not working correctly. It will suck for me though because I often find something underpriced only to relist it and make a few gold.

Ok, so we're complaining about a very useful feature of the AH that many wish would have been in since the game went live? Awesome.

I'm so sorry you won't be able to list items on shorter runs so they show up higher on the list in hopes of catching someone buying it over market value because they didn't page over four times. There are plenty of ways to make money in the AH. Learn a legit one.

That was a legitimate tactic although I personally never care that that much about the Auction House to try to trick people that way.
