Announcing the World of Warcraft Stress Test Competition!

We’re looking for the greatest of heroes to step forward and demonstrate their skill and valor. If you can prove your worth by becoming the most powerful members of your faction classes, then you could win the chance to continue your adventures in Azeroth beyond the completion of the stress test!

Blizzard will be holding a competition during the stress test to determine the three highest-level characters per class in both the Alliance and Horde factions. At the end of the stress test, three players of every Horde class and three players of every Alliance class will win entry into the World of Warcraft closed beta test. In the event of a tie, total experience accumulated will determine the ultimate winners.

In the interest of fairness and in accordance with the World of Warcraft Beta Test Agreement and Terms of Use Agreement, players are not allowed to share accounts. Any character that has been leveled up through shared playtime by multiple players will be disqualified from the contest.

The competition will run through the entire duration of the stress test. At the end of the stress test, Blizzard will notify 48 lucky winners of their acceptance into the closed beta test. As a special reward for their accomplishments, the winners will be able to move their characters from the stress test to the closed beta servers, ensuring that they can continue playing uninterrupted. Visit the "Official Stress Test Contest Rules" page to find out more.

um...i made it to level 9. but i wasted a lot of my time putzing around just looking at stuff. plus it took me forever to get these boar ribs and....nevermind. i'm pretty sure i wouldn't win anyways. there are people with way more time on their hands than me.

that's okay, i'm just happy i'm playing. :D

When I first saw that announcement I thought, "Cool, that's a good thing to do" but the more I think about it, the more I realise how it's going to bring out the bad side in a lot of people... Kill Stealing, arguments, all to get to the highest level the quickest.

A game is meant to be fun, for me that's wouldn't be fun ;)

Digital darwinism. How much time are you willing to spend to get into a beta that will last 4 months longer if that. So much for blizzards vaunted "fairness". Rather than actually put some effort into selecting beta testers. Ala best suggestion/feedback from the stress testers. Nah that would actually require some thought and effort on their part.

Or be impartial such as everyone gets a number and they lotto them. Or gasp something fun and challenging. Like a series of make level one toon in a starting city and run to another starting city. Or place a "golden ticket" on random low level mobs. Blizzard will do the tried and true method of highest level no life clown wins by default.

The very type of gamers that will grind thru the levels rather than experience the game. The ones that will dump them when the vision 2.0 er Vanguard goes retail. We will cater to the people most likely to abandon the game in search of digital fulfillment. Rather than cater to the bulk of the WOW revenue flow crowd.

/sorry but Blizzard has seriously dropped the ball on this one.

Actually, no offense, but beta testers are pretty much worthless.

I mean, they're great and all for bringing up really crappy ideas that will never get implemented. They're also really good at complaining about why your game sucks ass and it will totally fail at retail, like they're some kind of industry gods.

Beta testers are really there for the hard to find bugs and system compatibility. Nothing more. Basically if you get a "random" crash that occurs more than once to maybe a handful of testers out of thousands, it significantly increases your chances of finding that bug.

So basically, out of the probably hundreds of thousands of suggestions and bug reports, a very, very small percentage will actually get implemented or fixed or are even bugs in the first place.

Keeping three beta testers from each server is not going to make or break the beta. Get over yourself farslayer.

i'm surprised at the number of bugs i was finding while playing a Night Elf Hunter. there were many small things that needed to be fixed and was surprised it hadn't been to this point.

the game is good, but it will take some time to polish it off.

i think this idea of the highest level people moving on is kinda dumb, since those people wouldn't neccessarily make good testers. but hey, Blizzard can do whatever they want.
