Have to addmit, I love using wowhead, but I have the advantage I have a simple notebook next to my PC with an Internet connection, let them put the keylogger on it as much as they want ... I'll browse all the websites with a smile on my face, taking no change on my PC with wow installed ...

There is people out there, that is able to freeze your account only 'cause you made a bad pull...

Yes the above poster was right, i'm sorry for not updating the original forum thread. I did ask a guildie to ticket GM about the compromising my account, only to have the GMS reply that they will not do anything nor discuss anything about an account except with the original owner.

In fact, i'm having problems getting back my account as i do not have access to the email that i registered wow with and im getting repeat email replies of " We will not entertain any account discussions with non-registered email addresses of the said account - you must have some form of access to your registered email"

Which brings me to one of my later points - ensure that you remember your " secret password" and that all registered emails are kept up to date.

-edit-
I just tried to edit my original post to amend the point about having a guildie ticket a GM when you are being hacked, to add in the above point, but somehow the "Edit" button is missing.. is it just me?

Anyway, moderator if you do see this, could you do me the favor of doing so please, thank you.

Re: List of things to do if you suspect you are being hacked

I've posted on this topic before under another thread....
http://wowmb.net/forums/showthread.p...313#post116313
Last post was almost 9 months ago, so it's getting a bit further down the list.
Anyway, I copied a blog I wrote on my myspace about hacking. I got tired of all the dumb ads getting posted on my comments section. I also had my ebay account hacked cause I got successfully phished; that was my intro to the malicous world. Anyway, the thread is only 2 pages and my post is on the second page.

It might go to say that something other than a keylogger might have hacked your account. Think about anytime you might have put your account info other than in the WoW launcher.

Re: List of things to do if you suspect you are being hacked

Oooo i just read the thread. It was well written and informative. Hmm if it is NOT a key logger then i have some IRL friends issue to deal with, as my user name and password for wow is unique from all my other passwords

9 months ago is really a long time though, about the time i came back to WoW after a few months of quiting ^^

Latest update though, i managed to find some file called infostealer.pwer or something, im not sure about the extension

In some ways finding out that a key logger was at blame for it is better then realizing that a friend betrayed you >.<

-edit-

I just realized that my Norton protection system actually has some phishing protection thing lol
