My frustration

So basically I've tried my best to remain as an affliction Lock, a lot of people here seem to think that I'm not ready to spec destro and I don't mind because shadowbolt spamming is boring. But anyway I logged in this mourning to check out the new patch only to find that I had been booted from my guild, I messaged one of the guys online and they said "we're doing some spring cleaning" or some bullshit then I told him the reasoning behind me being affliction then he ignored me.

The thing is that gets me is one of the other locks is worse geared than me but Destruction and still passes me.

So how is it fair that while I have to watch my DoTs, keep things CC and such while all the have to do is press one button then they top me on the meters and I get booted? I've done everything I can think of to improve my as affliction but its apparently not enough for them.

To top that off, I can't PvP because on Bloodlust Horde always loses, in arena I'm always going up against the Warrior/Druid combos. I mean I've done all I can to grind out for my gear, I've put a lot of effort into getting my epic flyer as well as my gear and it's like now I'm stuck. I really wish Bliz would do something to fix this.

((Not a thread for advice, I just need a place to vent and I'm banned from the official forums))

Re: My frustration

Booted from the guild without even being told why? I wouldn't be missing that guild! That's really low behaviour, and if it is for the reason of your spec, then it's also cowardly.

Re: My frustration

While you do have my sympathies on being treated like that, its not really down to Blizzard to do anything about it - a decent guild will realise what you're trying to achieve and respect that....while a somewhat short-sighted guild clearly won't.

There's nothing really to add other than you shouldn't let this situation get to you - keep the faith and keep applying to other guilds. Even if they don't "need" an affliction lock they might judge you on your merits and offer you a spot, rather than merely dismissing you because you are affliction.

Re: My frustration

Yeah from what I can tell it was mostly due to trash mobs anyway and most of the time I'd catch up on the boss fights.

The thing thats most disconcerting is that most guilds on my server are either in Kara or already passed this and in BT/Hyjal/Sunwell.

Re: My frustration

Sorry, but affliction is dead as a raiding spec. I've been on raids where destruc locks have almost doubled my damage. They had a little better gear, but the difference was substantial and effortless.

If you insist on playing like a lock, you will have to find a raiding guild that carries an affliction lock in the group for other then raw dps.

Lots of great posts here telling how to spec destruc or demon. Get to it.

Re: My frustration

It's sad that at this point in the game one has to play as a mage. If i wanted to play as a mage i would have rolled one.

Re: My frustration

Male/Ruin is definately as "much" affliction as I would want in a guild right now and only for certain fights.....its a good time for Endgame Warlocks but being forced into one spec (now, and in Wrath of the Lich King) to be competitive is kinda lame =/

Re: My frustration

That's something that has always bugged me (and not just in WoW), that in order to be competitive, you have to be the same as everyone else. Last time I raided was with a Hunter (loooong time ago) and you weren't even allowed near the raid entrance if you were BM, you had to be Marks. I even caved an respecced because of it. Course, now that's changed hehe.

At least that's a little different to Warlocks though - it's not like they have a similar class like us with the Mage. Senicus is correct - if we wanted to play Mages, then this site would be a whole different colour. How many people looked at th Warlock and thought, 'Oh cool, nukage!' ? I bet not a lot...

Re: My frustration

Exactly - my initial thoughts on locks were, for once, guided by their appearance (I remember a guild mage getting stomped on by a lock in Nemesis) and just how damn COOL they were. I didn't care how they played, I just went with what I liked and for EVER that was Affliction.

Chin up Winter, there are guilds with brains and hearts out there

Re: My frustration

Yeah and I love how I can farm insanely quick whether I'm SL/SL or Affliction, but its either Destro to raid beyond Kara, or SL/SL to get more than a 1600 arena rating (Which you need now gear has a rating). The original role of what affliction is, is exactly the type of thing I want to do and my role fits me perfectly. I really hope they make Affliction more viable to raid with, as the above poster mentioned if I wanted to role a fire mage I would have rolled a fire mage.

I'm considering starting a guild, just thinking this way I can do things how I want (in terms of running the guild)
