SoulShards

I hope I posted in the right place, but here it goes. A major problem with me is soulshards. I need to know how to use em efficiantly and effectivly. I always to seem to be to scared to use 1. If anyone has a guide or advice that would rock.

Re: SoulShards

Don't be afraid to use em, just don't forget to pick up more. It's rare that casting something that you need to do costs one. As long as you remember grab a new one whenever you kill something your supply should easily meet your demand.

Re: SoulShards

Soul shards are easily replaceable, especially prior to level 70 when you are still leveling. Depending on your spec, you really only use them in certain situations. Do you have Shadowburn? Soul fire, Ritual of Souls, and Ritual of Summoning also use soul shards, and of course summoning a demon requires the use of one. In addition, a healthstone/soulstone/firestone/spellstone requires a soul shard.

Don't be afraid of using them though, they are there for you to use. If you feel that you might run out of them, just farm for a few while you are grinding or leveling. Easy to do. I usually have one bag full of them in my bank for instance runs in addition to the ones I carry around.

Speaking of soul shards, I really wish Blizz would make them stackable. It is annoying and somewhat unfair that we lose an entire bag slot if we carry a soul pouch around. Kinda like my hunter is screwed because he carries a quiver. I am not crying QQ or anything, but it is a change that would be nice to see.

Re: SoulShards

The problem is that i want to go destruction and that consumes a lot of soul shards. Like an average fight; i have my succ use seduce on enemy, then i cast soul fire, one shard gone, then say immolate and shadow burn, anothre gone, and i can only get 1 shard from a fight at a time.

Re: SoulShards

Drop soulfire from your rotation and only use shadowburn if you are certain you'll get your shard back.

Maybe you could do seduce then shadowbolt, shadowfury, immolate, shadowbolt/shadowburn to finish.

Re: SoulShards

Get the largest Soul Shard Bag you can and fill it - then keep it topped up.

Get an add-on that monitors your shards so you're always aware of how many you have left.

Don't bother with Soul FIre.

Don't Shadowburn until a mob is about to die.

Summoning/Healthstones etc don't take a lot of shards so with minimal management you just don't run out for most purposes, including levelling (I take 50 with me to progress raids however.....)

Re: SoulShards

Ok but i was talking in pvp fights. Like a problem i see coming is that in arenas im not gonna bother to try and get a soul shard from killing them, i just wanna kill the enemies and win. So would i just earlier go around and make like 100 shards? Anyway in pve i dont use soulfire so im fine there.

Re: SoulShards

PvP shard usage is an issue. Simple fix is to (gasp) separate PvP and PvE mechanics and make Pvp a no shard environment. I can't think of one spell that is potentially overpowering if certain mechanics are maintained, pets take too long to cast without fel dom, soulfire takes 4-6 seconds and the rest has cooldowns/useless (cough firestone).

Re: SoulShards

The same advice applies about PvP Shard Useage - get a massive shard bag, empty the rest of your bags and then farm about 80 shards. When I actually played back in S2 that would last me an evening of BG's but potentially far less time in arena....it is an issue but all I ever really did to address it personally was go farm some spiders in Terrokar so I got shards and silk to sell ;p
