Re: Shamans suk!

The elemental shaman that we used to have in the guild was one of our top dps-ers and did about 1.5k dps in the begining of BT, he left us for a Sunwell guild a while ago. I used to raid some as elemental shaman and the dps aint that bad as rumoured. With the GCD down to 1 sec instead of 1.5 secs, shamans gained a lot of dps by stacking on haste. Appart form some other classes shamans can drop some crit for haste since we get 10% from talents and additional 3% from totems. Elemental shamans dont really relly on hit (need about 50 or so) so they have loads of room for haste. I dont mind having 2 elemental shamans, our mages generally get both the elemental shaman and the SP so if we have two, I get one aswell. Im in a guild that loves to boost the mages and put locks in the tank group or wherever there is room, the palas did get the Boomkin we brought to the raid. " You locks can sacrifice pets, you dont need any other boost mentality" (as if arcane mages don get loads of spell damage form intellect and other talents). Im just hyappy that I beat them anyway most of the time. But yeah, another elemental shaman is my wet dream (guess a resto one would do to)

Re: Shamans suk!

One of each shaman is just sick for the raid. I generally have one in the melee group (ehn shaman, dps war, feral druid, 2x rogue), one in the caster group (elem shaman, shadow priest, warlock, 2x mage), and one in the other dps group, giving extra casters mana spring and hunters GoA. That's also a heroism for almost every DPS in the raid. Things can get pretty ridiculous with that much haste.

Re: Shamans suk!

Maybe they are taking alot of shamans to get more totems ?
Think there was something about totems taking up beam and FA hits.

But still quite stupid to leave locks out totally...

Re: Shamans suk!

My GM is are not replacing all the locks, but when a shaman signs he does tend to bump a lock.

When a shaman with 3/4 the personal DPS of a lock signs up, the spot goes to the shaman.

At our current level of gearing from a bit of theorycrafting:
Enh shaman give about 800-1000 DPS to their group with their totems.
Ele shaman give about 600-800 DPS to their group with their totems.
Resto shaman give about 300-400 DPS to their group with their totems.
---

So if a lock has 1500 dps personally, and an elemental shaman has 701 personal dps + his 800 dps increase to the casters in his group
then 1501> 1500
so the elemental shaman wins in contributed raid dps.

Now a warlock in BT with ONLY 1500 DPS is not playing up to speed, but as a lock lover, I prefer to see these hard working, badge equiped guys in the raid instead of a kara level shaman.i

My GM will only be persuaded by hard theorycrafting. OUr WWS
Wow Web Stats

showing the low dps for the shaman [Shaharris] , and his inability to proberly twist or keep down totems seems unimportant.

Getting the "eventual" sunwell effect of a shaman in each group is more important that the number of wipes it takes to gear them up.

I guess I messed up trying to take a stand. as I was removed from my class master position for saying that we should not carebear another (4th) shaman instead of taking a 5th lock.

THanks for the discussion!

Re: Shamans suk!

Whats with the crappy dps warrior? Also I only see one ele shaman in the raid which is fine resto shamans should replace healers and not dps classes so I really don't see the problem if the GM was taking 2 ele shamans + I would agree however one is definitely going to be a dps gain overall. Totem twisting is really only a huge boost to melee imo which should be done by enh shamans keeping up grace of air and WF.
