A little guidance
Hello all, I am very new to WoW, only a few days; and I have read a lot of information. Some of it seems very confusing if your new to the game, and i apologise if what I need to know seems a little nooby, but if you don't ask you never learn.
I have a lock level 26, and all I seem to do is die, my pets seems weak and so do I. I realise being new I may have put points in the wrong talent and so on, but I distributed what I had after reading here, and also what seemed to be most helpful after reading the talent (5 into stamina - demons embrace I think it is?) and the rest pretty much on pets to make them stronger. I have bought the grimoires to give pets everything I can (man they ate what money I had ^^). I don't really know what else to try. If anyone could offer a little advise that might help me I would be really grateful, as at the moment all I do is run to quest, die, rinse , repeat-- its getting old really fast. Thanks in advance for any experienced advise anyone can offer ![]() |

Re: A little guidance
Sounds to me like your either pulling aggro from your voidwalker or your taking on too many mobs. when fighting a mob always open with curse of agony then corruption and wait for your void to get a couple taunts off before you use immolate, since that pulls quite a bit of aggro.
also i would recommend going 5 imp corruption then the rest into demonology since your pretty much relying on your pet to survive try something like this Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft for a level 26 lock. hope it helps |

Re: A little guidance
Are you chilling out, just taking one at a time?
If you'r having problems with mobs gathering more (running of and then bringing pals) try to run away with the mobs a bit, not too long so you drop them, just far enough to not have them chainpull. |

Re: A little guidance
Hi guys thanks for the tips and sorry for the late reply. Busy with work - worst luck, so no time for WoW
![]() Yes I was pulling aggro I think so I have tried what you both recommend and it has helped some. As I said I'm new to WoW and the different talent trees get confusing cause there's some in each that sound useful, so it gets hard to know which way to go. If anyone has a simplistic way to explain the benefits of the trees that would be great; not used to all the abbreviations just yet so some of the forum stuff is kinda hard to follow ![]() Thanks again, and any other tips would be very welcome. Happy hunting all ![]() |

Re: A little guidance
Hey there Minx, you may want to look into an addon like omen to give you an idea of the damage you are putting out vs the aggro your pets are building. when you blow 130% of your pets aggro rating the mob turns on to you and makes warlock pancakes out of you. With damage meters you can see when you're getting close to your pets aggro so you know when to slow the pain down a little.

Re: A little guidance
The Talent trees:
The (totally basic raw) ideas of each talent tree a) Affliction: you rely on DOTs (damage over time spells) "Corruption". This tree boosts your DOTs, leaves your pet and yourself quite weak. b) demonology: well, almost self explaining. Boost your demons with more stamina, self protection through damage linking between you and your demon c) destruction: almost fire spells, rely heavily on +crit (nothing to level, quite mana intensive) Advice: I'd go demo until you reach the 41 pt. talent (Felguard, the BIG one). Try to play around with him and if you don't like it switch to an affliction build (there are several talent threads in this forum, so try to jump into the guides section and make yourself comfortable with them). Another word: don't worry about too much information by now, you'll get to know the whole talent and spec sytem while playing. Warlocks are quite hard to learn, but once you know how to play them, they are neverending fun. |

Re: A little guidance
Thanks Nitro thats a great tip I didn't know about that.
Than you too snack that also helps, I sorta get the basic idea of each tree, and yes I had noticed the destruction spells were very mana drainng but powerful. I think I'll try to go demo with some aff. and see how that works for me. Maybe I just havn't found my playing style yet. Locks do seem hard to learn, in that you arn't as powerful as a mage but neither can you wade in and kill. I'm assuming gear plays a large part in helping to, so I'm enchating and tailoring but its pretty money draining disenchanting everything and I'm always broke. Thanks again for your continued help guys I really appreciate it. |

.Anyway im leveling pretty good, i kill a lot with few cooldown times and i have even solo some ELITES 1 or even 2 more levels than im. Whats my recipe for all this? Well im using this talent guide HERE and i pick up everything that has stamina and its a cloth and equip it right away. And have a nice wand to wand the $%^& out of mobs without expending too much mana. I just do this... *Agony**Corruption**MAYBE Inmolate if it has too much life**wand till he bites the dust* If you have problems with money go and pick up 2 gathering professions. I would recommend mining+skinning since you don't need to expend THAT much time leveling them and you can use them while questing. Im level 28 and i have 115g thxs to both professions. What else ... use void and take it easy... read the quests... don't rush, go one or two mobs at a time. Once you have 10g try and buy 4 bags of 12 slots so you can carry more (in my server i can get them at 1g-3g each).Errrr pick up First Aid and level it first... When you dont need linen to level first aid save up linen and same with each step of the cloth lader. (For tailoring in the future) Crypts has a nice leveling guide you can use to guide you on where to go and what to do. Check HERE. And enjoy your char... Hope it helps a little... I was at your exact position a few days back... Now im happy and fill with more questions ![]() Good Luck. |
