Ghostcrawler on our overhaul
I'm not sure anything new is being said in this thread that hasn't been said already. I did post a list of what we wanted to do with warlocks in LK and now that we have done those changes, we have a new list of what we want to look at in warlocks next. A few players linked it. I could have found the quote myself but I figured the community would be able to do it faster, which they did. I am sorry if my communication sometimes seems disjoined. Reading all of these threads takes a great deal of time that I try to squeeze in during my other responsibilities. To some extent you're going to get what you're going to get. That may not sit well, but the alternatives are to give up on posting altogether or at least post a lot less frequently. I don't see a way I will be able to spend more time here than I do already. (As most of you know, I'm not a CM. I also don't want to hire people to read the forums for me, because that defeats the purpose. But I do have a lot going on.) I think there is some truth to the notion that after enough tweaks here and there that you need to step back and take a big look at the class as a whole. I think we've reached this point with warlocks. We are satisfied with the changes we wanted to make in BC, which included things like giving Affliction more competitive damage, giving Destruction more than one button to push, and getting Demonology to consider more different types of demons. When I say we want to make some changes to the class, I would not interpret this as burning warlocks to the ground and starting over. Overall it's still a really cool and distinctive play style. I'll reach for an analogy here, which can be illustrative but will also break if streteched too far, as all analogies do. We've spent some time checking the tire pressure and vacuuming out the interior, but every few thousand miles you want to actually pop the hood, check all the belts and hoses, and possibly even rebuild the engine. That is not the same as driving her off a cliff and then hitting the dealers for a newer model. Source: Re: Warlock Class Design A friend of mine had to rebuild his engine once. I was a great success. I'm optimistic about warlocks in the near future.

Edit: ok, that was a bit ranty, but how can blizz, who are taking that same subscription from 11 million other players not afford as many game mechanic designers as necessary to provide a balanced product? I keep hearing about one guy all the time, GC this, GC that. Give us a warlock specific GC to be guinea pigs for, or better yet one for each talent tree. Lets see blizz putting a little more of those record profits back into the game instead of lining activisions pockets. Last edited by Liche; December 23, 2008 at 12:13 AM.. |

With proper preventative maintenance, we wouldn't need this overhaul. |

It seems to me like he took the belts & hoses off then drained the oil & put it on a dynomometer at full throttle while firing a .50 cal at it

c'mon guys behave yourselves..although i am a big fan of ironic comments ..i sincerely believe the guy is trying to help and at least he is trying in his own way to keep us in the loop of things to come..better than just ignoring us like so many others before him..he is actualy taking time to post -frequently- i would add which at least leaves satisfied than someone out there does give a rats ..... about what we think and makes me feel optimistic about the future..seriously how worst can things get..its only upwards from here on for us locks..have faith |

Re: Ghostcrawler on our overhaul
I think it's a sign they realize that lock really are broken at the moment, that they need to do more then just look at the surface and find out what's really going on and how to fix it but not go and completely change how locks work... could end up being an overhaul like when Pallies had their seal and judgement system changed up. |

Also, I would imagine it's a question of employment policy as well. As an employer, you would want to distribute the workload so you can keep all your employees all year, rather than hiring and training a lot of extras for the overhaul, laying them off six months later and then starting hiring an training yet more extras the year after that again. -w- |

Re: Ghostcrawler on our overhaul
I see what you are saying Wilfy, but the message im getting from GC is that he doesnt, personally, have enough time to deal with all the class adjustments. Just seems that, with the direction blizz have taken pve stats, the homogenization of items and higher dps to personal health ratio of all classes, to make pvp viable they need to vastly increase the survivability of classes in order to draw fights out longer than a few seconds. Blizz has stated in the past that they dont want spells that do one thing in pve and a different thing when cast in pvp, so i think that changing the current setup would be tricky to implement but better. having spells/abilities that are "usable on players only" might help this, provide pvp survival spells that wont work in pve. The requirements for survival in pve vs pvp are very different and thus, you cannot have both sets of abilities available to each without compromise. |
