3.1 Patch Changes. How will it affect us Locks?

So Patch 3.1 is coming out soon (we hope) and there is a lot of new things coming. Dual-spec, Ulduar, and of course the new changes to classes, races, etc. So that raises a big question. How will all of this affect us Warlocks?

We know that Dual-spec will allow us with one spec for raiding, one for farming, or one for PvP, etc. but what do you think would be a good spec to have for strictly dps in raids and then the best for aoe farming? I am asking this because when 3.1 comes out and I get one spec for raids and one for farming I'm not exactly sure, with all the changes, what the best spec will be. I am pretty well geared so my DPS isn't suckish right now.

Leave posts on what you think. All help is appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Re: 3.1 Patch Changes. How will it affect us Locks?

Honestly I personally will probably be going destruction. Which is fine for farming, but I am going to do demo as a second spec for solo purposes. I've tested quite a few specs out, and I'm sure there is some things I'm missing but so far its looking like Destruction for sure. (Life tap, Immolate, Imp) I believe is what I have for glyphs. Curse of Elements will be something I will now use on all bosses. As affliction you cannot because you would be sacrificing Curse of Agony, and that is something I wasnt fond of. The destruction class is based on crit not haste. I gave specs that I tried with around 700 haste and it just doesn't cut it. Crit stacked is more benefical. I keep my hit at 368+ talents because you never know what kind of group makeup you will have, and I for one like to be where I need to be. I will eventually put up something on destruction spec I have in mind, or you can just armory me come tuesday -hopes for the patch- =]

I just thought I would share some input...

I'll probably end up getting 2 raiding speccs, one for bosses (affliction when DG is up) and the other for other stuff (deciding between deep destro and 40/31)

Re: 3.1 Patch Changes. How will it affect us Locks?

Once I started thinking about having dual specs, I noticed I'd prefer having a third spec... one for bosses, one for trash, one for pvp... and a forth one?

I think I'll go with the 40/31 spec and take the other one for PvP, unless there are other extreme requirements in Ulduar (e.g. warlock tank).

I liked the old affliction, but then 3 month of dot timing are enough, and its getting boring in 3.1 anyways

Meh, I think affliction is pretty much on par with the other speccs now as far as amount of work (well, except for deep destro which is a joke). Yes, it's a bit too easy now, but I'll get used to it and my latency will probably be happy with the changes.

Oh, and

Actually, deep Destro "rotations" are far more complex than a Demo or hybrid rotation.

I'll have my raid spec. Most likely Demo.. just because its never really been a good raid spec and I'm hoping it will be. (getting tired of affliction also).

My second will be PvP. Prolly affliction/demo. I like it that way.

Re: 3.1 Patch Changes. How will it affect us Locks?

I'm not sure yet. I love affliction, so want to stay that, but I also just started having fun with meta. Its my first time going demo, and while its far from a great spec, its a lot of fun. So if all I did was pve, I would go affliction and then demo for my 2nd build, but I also love pvp so I am not sure yet. It would be great if demo proved to be a great pvp spec, that way I could kill two birds with one stone.
