Known Issues with Patch 3.1

Not sure if this issue is affecting anyone else, but here's my problem and it's proposed (read "not yet tried by me") solutions:

No system messages
No "Hi welcome to patch 3.1", "[Guildie] has come online", etc. I can't even see the result of /roll's (Thank [Guild Leader] for LootHog!)
Solution(s):
Delete all chat-cache.txt files in your ../WTF/Account/<Account>/<Server>/<Character> folders and restart WoW. This did not work for me, but YMMV. The more correct yet extreme way is to delete your WTF, Cache and Interface folders. Then reinstall all of your addons. I have not yet tested this method out (waiting until I get some sleep).

No chat in <channel name>
Solution(s):
If you can't see various chat channels, Blizzard recommends /leave <channel name> and /join <channel name>. If this does not work, they will "... take further measures." Source

No spell effect area graphics
Solution(s):
Open the Game Menu / Video / Effects, look to the bottom and check "Projected Textures". Your spell detail should have returned. /cast Rain of Fire to find out.

If any of you are having technical issues with the game post 3.1, please chime in. Especially if you have a working solution!

Re: Known Issues with Patch 3.1

Hi everyone, I'm Stench. Long time lurker first time poster.

Hmmm I've not had those problems. However I had to do a re-install after the patch. A file became corrupted somewhere

Here's the issue I'm having. Whenever I drain soul the game tells me I can't carry anymore of those items whenever I'm suppossed to recieve a soul shard. I only have 18 in my bag. I'm practicing my decimation weave so inevitably I screw up and waste shards.

Any body else have this ocurr?

Thanks for listening.

Re: Known Issues with Patch 3.1

look in your bank

(i had a few lurking in my bank)

Blizzard should have made it clear. the new limit is not

"you may only carry 32 soul shards"

it is actually

"you may only own 32 soul shards"

if this doesnt help try disabbling addons and trying again

Re: Known Issues with Patch 3.1

My ADDONS have been tearing all my stuff up; i had to update most of them. especially Necro and Xperl; they were the worse.

but one problem that i have been having that is not addon based is that sometimes i can't click on a linked item or profession in the chat window. it's really annoying especially when you advertise for 10 minutes for somone to link their profession then when someone finally steps up and posts their link and it won't open. really crappy.

i thought maybe is was the chat window but i have two opened on my UI, one that has all chat and one that is just party and whisper and the links don't work in either one.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hope this gets fixed soon. or if it's a problem with my UI i hope someone can tell me what the crap i was doing different prior to 3.1

Re: Known Issues with Patch 3.1

Turns out my whole chat issue was SpamMeNot (version 3.0.48-release).

Re: Known Issues with Patch 3.1

thanks for the article link... i am not running any of those addons except for questhelper. i read in the lower forum on that page that questhelper was causing problems, i downloaded a newer version last night from curse.com that was last updated on the 17th. so it was very up to date. i did not get a chance to retry the profession link problem in the chat window, but my quest helper is still jacking up, i can't get it to work at all.

i am also having what appears to be a white oval shadow type thing right below my character... it doesn't happen all the time. but it looks like it would be the shadow graphic but it's white and it's way to low on the screen. and it looks more like it's stuck on the screen, if i zoom in to a first person view it is still there... anyone else having that? i have tried disabling all my addons and it's still there so it must be a blizzard issue. i also tried messing with the graphic settings; even the shadow settings and again it still stays, but it is random, it's not always there. very wierd.

Re: Known Issues with Patch 3.1

One issue I've found is that in Dalaran I constantly hear the sound of a drake crashing. Apparently someone's mount bugged out or something. And after asking in trade, the issue wasn't just me. Is this happening on other servers as well? It's lasted today and yesterday so far for me.

I'm trying to figure out what the screeching (like metallic grinding) noise is coming from when I gain aggro. Is that something that Blizzard added?
