I Was In The Martin Fury Guild
I posted this in the other thread feel free to delete it, I just thought this might want some publicity. It seems to sell well :P. -------------------------------------------------------------------- What would I do if I was involved in this scandal? Well, I tell you what I did. I went in there with Karatechop my GM and one shotted some bosses. It was the funnest experience of my WoW career. Watching a boss drop to its knees in half a second, come on guys it was HILARIOUS. I mean honestly, we didn't mean any World Achievements or to disrupt any of your end game raiding. It was kind of a payback to the bosses for wiping us numerous times in other end game content. I will reiterate the fact that we meant no disruption or were not going in there for achievements. We are a tight knit guild, and just wanted to have some fun. The item came in the mail to a guildies alt and we used it. No harm intended. Unfortunately, it ended horrible, my GM is at this point permabanned, after four years of non-exploitation. He is a great guy, and a good friend. He might not have been able to hold threat all the time, but other than that, he was an awesome guild leader for a not so hardcore raiding guild. We played to have fun, we took advantage of an OP artifact, and our whole guild was banned for it. As of earlier today, all of us excluding Karatechop are getting 24 hour bans (until tomorrow.) I regret any harm done to any of your alls persistence in achieving feats in Ulduar, and I would like you to look at my armory and see all of our achievements have been removed. Never, will I take advantage of such an oppurtunity again. I helped make the decision to use it, even though I said we need to stay out of Ulduar for the sake of other guild's "raiding glory". I can still be held responsible for the actions, and will take any bashing you guys have. But remember, I am a human, and mistakes are mistakes. There are no morals in this game, it is a game fellow warlocks. Some of the remarks made so far about my friends are just unbelievable, we are all good PEOPLE and meant no wrong doing.Hopefully you guys sympathize with me here. Maybe some of you wouldn't have done as we did. But a lot of you would have, and can not make a "if you found a gun, would you use it to kill somebody. and then blame it on the person who left the gun?" That is murder and a little different than a damn achievement in a video game. We were all punished and I feel none of us should be permabanned for a mistakenly sent GM item to a mailbox, and then us "exploiting" it to have a little fun while we had it. Please comment on how you feel. I have seen a lot of nasty comments in all of the other forums. So just be straight forward and ask questions if you like. First rate remorse. I salute you and your candor. I'm sorry about the permaban, but understandable and I'm glad the rest of you only got temp banned. In case anybody was curious, that wasn't sarcasm. I appreciate this post. |

Blizzard overreacted.....1rst off it is a game....second I have seen far more exploits punished with far less....Lets see the guy exploited 1 instance vs how many pvp speed and god like hacks that actually disrupted other playing time; those guys usually received 3 day bans.....personally Blizz needs to get over itself; more than likely it a gnome mage making that decision for all that caterwalling |

I can't believe you thought nothing would happen if you went and 1-shotted multiple hard mode bosses. You had to know that wasn't right. I can understand why Bliz is pissed, with the achievements and such, you guys must have created a TON of work for them to do to fix this. I don't agree with the perma-ban for the GM. I'd give him a week or 2 ban maybe, and the temporary bans on the rest of you make sense. (I'm sure they need to roll back the loot you got using this thing.) I think if you'd used it once or twice and then sent a ticket you wouldn't have had a problem. But setting it to heroic and nailing the hard mode boss was over the top, you knew you were exploiting an error at that point.

While I admit that using something like that was not the smartest thing to do...they did send it to you. So you played with it. I'm not sure I would have believed it either. But that would have been it. First time it worked I would have had a ticket in. Does he deserve a permaban? Blizz gave it to you guys...enough has been made of this that at this point it should be considered a lesson learned by the whole WoW community, he should have his account restored, and a post should be made that if ever a mistake is made like this again the players assume full responsibility and will be banned. This will now be a milestone in WoW history, congratz on having a front row seat. You guys are the new Leeroy Jenkins of WoW. I await the expression "Let's Karatechop this boss". |
