Zone Progression
Any insight as to which zones are best in terms of fast progression? I started in Don Murlough, then went to Elwynn Forest (VW Quest). I am now in Westfall but haven't seen a quick progression thru the quests and being 13th thought some of the mobs may be a lil tougher than I thought they should be. Should I switch to Loch? Anyone have a good Zone Progression Guide or suggestions? Thanx.

Zone Progression
I'm a zone jumper, I go where ever the quests are plentiful and easy. At 13 I was in Westfall as well, but if I came across a couple of quests that I was a little low for I would jump across to Loch Modan, however I personally found the quests over there to be fewer than Westfall. A lot of people dismiss the Night Elf areas too, which I don't understand. Sure at the lower levels there doesn't seem to be as much, but around 13 you could be in Darkshore which has heaps of quests, the only thing I don't like about that zone is it's so long... lots of running. Once you hit about 20 you have Red Ridge, Wetlands, some Duskwood, Ashenvale along with probably other places. Some people don't like zone jumping as there is running involved in between, but for me I will usually pick an area for the day. I might get on today and do all the Wetlands quests I can, once I finish with that I might head over to Red Ridge / Duskwood but in the middle stop to do some tradeskills etc. While I don't dismiss the grinding as I have done it a couple of times and the level's you can get are really nice, but for me I did that in EQ enough, I am thoroughly enjoying taking my time in WoW, hence why I am happy to go where ever the mood takes me for the day. No idea if that helps you or not...

redridge is actually a level 15-25 zone. so you'll be able to go there in 2 levels. loch modan is a pretty good place to level too. never leveled in darkshore though. i love zone jumping because you will be able to get more quests done that are your level. |

I did loch modan at your level, some quests but mostly grinding. Dont know much about the other alliance zones, but i'd say avoid darkshore at all cost. To me that zone is a real pain, 13+ animals jump you every 2 seconds, and like Akasha said its so huge. So unless you love the murloc sound...

I don't understand people's dislike for the Night Elf areas... I see all the Night Elves in the Human and Gnome lands from level 1, it's like there's a boat that stops at their starting point with a flag saying "all those fleeing, board here" lol. When I made my Night Elf, I refused to leave and wanted to see what their lands were like. I heard so many people say that the quests were horrible, hardly any there etc, and I have to say, it's not the case. Darkshore is the same level quests approximately as Loch Modan, and I got jumped just as much in Loch Modan as I did in Darkshore, if I hear another bear or rat tunneler I was going to scream. Darkshore isn't so much large as it is long... sometimes it's a pain running back and forth from one end to the other, but then I found the same thing in Loch Modan. If you are looking for variety then I highly recommend Akasha's comment to zone jump, you get to see a lot more, kill a lot of different mobs ( as apposed to how many Defias in Westfall), and as Boscolio pointed out, complete a lot more quests for your level. I think that aspect there is great if you are more the solo'er type, I jumped around the zones completing which ever quests I could solo, then I would go back and try the ones I couldn't solo before, as now, after doing the first run I would be three level's higher. After Darkshore you can move onto Ashenvale, I loved that zone! Lots of very interesting quests over there, and one of them results in Cloth Shoulders to die for, especially Warlocks. I loved Red Ridge because as boscolio pointed out, it's a 15 - 25 zone, so you can do the easier quests pretty much now, and then work your way up to the higher ones. Same goes for Duskwood, you can start doing some of their quests at around 19 to 20, and work your way up to the level 30 quests. |

Wow! Can we get a little Horde love? I play both alliance and horde and they do play differently, at least until level 23-24. If you prefer not to zone jump a lot, then try a Horde character. The Barrens is huge, both in size and sheer quantity of quests. Another plus is that there are 2 graveyards to shorten corpse runs. Yet, another plus, there are lots of non-aggro mobs. It is possible to level from 12 to 24 without leaving The Barrens. I would, however, recommend Ragefire Chasm (Instance) at level 16, give or take a level, which is located in Orgrimmar. The quests out of Crossroads will take you pretty close to level 20 and Camp Taurajo and South Barrens will go from level 19-24. Getting all the quests (6 I believe) for Wailing Caverns (Instance) by level 21-22 works out nicely. A note about the first 2 Horde Instances, you are going to have to travel to get the quests, unless a group mate shares the non-chain quests. As for Alliance, I prefer Loch Modan after Dun Morgh or Elwyn Forest but I usually mix and match both as Akasha stated. Haven't really done anything in Redridge yet and nothing in Darkshore. I will have to check out Darkshore. |

Some very good places I found were (as alliance): Solo: Thousand Needles/Salt Flats: Go here at 30 as some quests don't unlock until 30. The salt flats is a small area with lots of mobs and the several quests don't require you to leave the salt flats. One warning: I think you have to talk to a gnome in ironforge first to unlock some of the quests. Bizzlebolt brothers give lots of quests in salt flats, but I think you need to unlock them by talking to one of thier relatives in Tinker town. Solo: Desolace: You have to go here anyway for some warlock quests. Some quests don't unlock to 37 so 37 is perfect, but you can handle it at 36 if you want to go here to get 37. One warning: you have to talk to Roetten Hammersomething or somethinghammer in iron forge to unlock some quests. He is a dwarf that wanders explorers hall. Group: Stranglethorn Vale: Level ??. Probably 35-45 can benefit. There are a TON of quests here. In Booty Bay, and at the two NW human camps. I say group because the quests are difficult and either you are fighting multiple mobs or fighting in areas with lots of wandering aggro. If you want to just buy several thousand free xp, there is a pages quest (actually 5 quests) at the NW human camp along the river (horde can go here to it seems). You need if I recall correctly 14 pages (Something like Stranglethorn Green Page 12, etc.) But you can buy the pages in the AH as people sell them all the time. The first day at the AH I bought most of them; the 2nd day at the AH I found the rest. Sell for 10-20 sp on my server. |

i believe STV is 30-45. it's an area that you can spend a lot of time in. i'm currently jumping around Arathi Highlands and all those near areas at level 34. still need to finish off Gnomeregan though, been having horrible luck finding good groups. :? |

So much running to get anywhere there. Give me a nice small zone like Silverpine any day.
