Pretty frustrated on Blizz dev

It's like they half-change warlocks, nerf them first, then forget to compensate (or didn't feel the need to) despite the all-time low representation. We're meant to be tanking casters, but it's like being a blacksmith without a hammer.

We have a mere 10% more health than casters. We have a smaller mana pool than typical casters. We kill ourselves to get some mana. Only one spec (that is now nerfed to the ground) possesses reliable healing tools.

Our burst was our one trick pony, but GC knocked its legs off. Our survivability is tied to our pets, which die when being sneezed on. Every PVP lock are forced to spend 11 points for a spell that should be made baseline.

Rogues have been our hard counter for 5 years and still counting, yet Blizz eliminated the Lock-Mage counter and the Mage-Warrior counter, Rogues were also given a disarm to help them deal with melee classes.

We were forced 80% of the time to fight at melee range but are the most vulnerable to melee interrupts, pushback and silences. There aren't any talent that address these problems effectively.

----

Since Blizz states that they like band-aid fixes, I propose:
- Effect range of Demonic Circle increased to 50 yards
- Demonic Circle summon time now made instant
- 50% resilience and spell hit rating scale with pets
- Stamina scaling increased by 20%
- Shadowflame snare baseline
- Haunt instant cast
- Soulshatter with knockback and decreased CD
- Talent at early tiers to reduce damage while stunned or snared.

I also thought adding some thing like the 4-piece set bonus of the Deathmist set into the talent Nether Protection to help versus melee.

"When struck in combat has a chance of causing the attacker to flee in terror for 2 seconds."

I love the idea of a knockback but folding it into soulshatter would just bring up the old "we need to farm shards for ten flow-breaking minutes before we can pvp" issue. Not to mention that the CD would need to be dropped drastically (i.e. down to a minute or so...maybe less) in order to be effective and then they would have to change the threat reduction to compensate.

I've seen the idea raised to drop the VW's mass taunt in favor of a knockback ability, which makes sense since he's supposed to be our anti-melee (I guess..) but then THAT raises the other old argument that our pets are too situational and you need precognition in order to have the right one out to win.

I just don't think that a bandaid solution is going to do the trick in this case. Our current abilities don't work because they've been nerfed so badly that the devs can't think of another way to make them work...so why even try? Give us something fresh and new (like a new soul shard system ha ha)! I suppose that we'll have to wait for another content patch for something like that though.

Re: Pretty frustrated on Blizz dev

They just nerfed the heck out of VW and number of shards we can carry. Maybe that means that they are running out of ways to nerf us (except for EoK) and may move on and ruin another class in the future. One can only hope or reroll.

Just because we can do something, doesn't mean we were meant to do it. Tanking casters sounds like a good way to get yourself killed now days. No no, we were originally designed to be master debuffers and DPS. Even if you read Blizzards class description for Warlocks you'll see no mention of tanking, only of debuffing. This text hasn't been updated since the game originally came out so it accurately describes Blizzards original intent for the class.

Warlocks have both powerful damage spells (primarily dealing over time) and debuff spells that work well in conjunction with each other and with the abilities of their group mates. They have Curses for many occasions; in fact, they can easily be considered the best debuffers in the game. Their pets, too, help with the damage dealing and grant the Warlock extra abilities to put to use. They can also control crowds well with Seduction and Banish, and provide limited support in the form of their summoned stones.

Perhaps the precognition issue could be handled with baseline instant pet summons and also free up some space for fresh talents. Hunters have it why shouldn't we?

It would be useful if Soul Shatter would work like Mage's Ice Block - a way to remove all negative effects on us in PvP (or raids).

(I also wish that our Demonic Circle would give stealth detection in a 10yd radius.)

I think this: "Soulshatter with knockback and decreased CD" would be an awesome fix for warlocks. i use soulshatter more than i ever though i would, and a knockback would be absolutely incredible.

Okay I have to admit that description was pretty distant... you're correct, they're originally debuffers but now they're just lackluster debuffers.

Re: Pretty frustrated on Blizz dev

We are far from lackluster, I have raided with my lock since Kara. Yes we have had a lot of changes since 3.0, IMHO, all for the best. I hated spamming sbolt for an entire raid, it was boring, and it was lame. Now it actually takes some skill to raid and people QQ about it, I can still easily top the charts and I am by no means over geared compared to my guildies.

I just recently start pvping so I dont know what to compare us to as in the past, but I can honestly say I am having fun and loving it. Rogues are not a serious issue now that I am setting around 600 resilence, yes trehy usually still get the best of me but I can down atleast 2 out of every 5, and no other class has its way with me on a regular basis.

If what you are doing, maybe its time to find a differatn style of play, try a differant spec, change up your gear, etc. I hope the game play improves for you that are having problems, I dont know a great deal about pvp yet but if you need help with pve I will gladly tell you what I use to still top 5k and 6k dps depending on the fight.
