So, arcane mages own warlocks now?
Well yeah, while this patch (3.2.2) changed really nothing for warlocks, I think a few other classes got quite some changes. In particular arcane mages have gotten a rather significant buff... I didn't get to raid today, but looking at the reports they seem to be around 500 dps higher, now fighting for the first places on top of the dps meters, instead of fighting for "second" against ele shaman's. Just talking about my guild here. Any experience from your side? ah yeah, simcraft also says that arcane is top dps right now, slightly ahead of destro locks. |

didn't have that much trouble with arcane mages in 25ToC last night. However our 4 hunters were above me almost every fight, where usually I'm in the top 3. Now that i find my self in position #5 i wonder to myself, weren't they suppose to be nerfed a bit this patch?

Actually BM Hunters received a decent buff to damage this last patch... not sure it that holds true for all Hunters though. Kalium

Anecdotes. Last night we did Ony 25, ToC 25, and ToC 10. Top five spots were mixed rogue, hunter, warlock, just like almost every other week for the past while. We've had several mages come and go in our guild in the past months. I've found that they pull big numbers on trash, but they are are very bursty, RNG dependant, and they always tend to run out of steam on bosses that don't have paused phases. They still have a larger mana issues than destro locks, let alone affliction. We've had several mages that could make the 1-3 spots on certain fights, but few who could make the top 5 overall. |

we have a feral druid in the guild who is top damage done in 90% of the fights. I was talking to him last night before we did toc25 and he was crying over the ArP nerf. lets just say he did 8.3k dps on lord jaraxxus, even beating the mage spell stealing the damage buff. I dont care if Im out dpsed, it happens all the time. the only fights i can seem to top are ones with modifiers like general, hodir and twins. but it does get to me a little when its at the hand of fury warriors, blood DKs and feral druids (read:hybrids) |

The arcane mage in my guild used to be consistently 2nd in damage & dps behind me, but as of the patch, he's neck and neck and may pass me on shorter fights. |

I pray for a day where my guild-mates can do more damage than me. I know for a fact their classes can and they have the gear to at least be equal to me, so I really just want the skill factor to go up a bit. |

A geared arcane mage will be easily able to surpass our dps currently. By a long gap, also. Overall DPS in ToC last nite for ours was 7500 dps. |

I think it depends on the gear they are at. I have better gear than all our mages for the time being until things even out a bit, so even so my destro DPS is very competitive and still usually higher if I am destro lately. However, now that I've reached the mark of passively having 4000 spell power in demonology spec, I am starting to dual spec demo more often and of course that affects my personal DPS a lot but I am seeing a lot more spell casters on top due to demonic pact. This actually can have pretty decent synergy if our mages start to go arcane, because going arcane means we lose improved scorch buff from the mages and our improved shadow bolt can take over that debuff. |

I wouldn't be too concerned about arcane mages totally trumping warlocks. High arcane dps comes at the cost of mana, and the rotation can get a little hairy. We had one of our mages switch over to arcane on Tuesday and Thursday, the two raid boomkins were still on top of him on the ToC stuff except Twins because he was being a sob and stealing all the orbs. The spec is very mana intensive if you can't get a druid to toss you an innervate. Also went head to head with him in VoA because its one of the few raid settings left apart from patchy that give patchy type encounters. He topped only on Koralon, no clue why only on that one, but he did. As far as skill goes I consider him to be a fairly competent mage, he does better than other mages in guild and on the server. (no boomkins aren't op, quite certain if I bring my lock up to my boomkin's gear level she'll clock circles around him)
