We have an Arcane mage in my guild and on any of the three drakes in OS, he easily pulls 8k dps. In 10man Onxyia, he pulled 10k dps. He is less geared than me and i usually pull 5k on any of those bosses. Enhancement Shamans are the same, we got two of them and they pull over 6k on alot of bosses in uld 10 while im around 5k, somtimes under. In 10 Toc the mage is just destroying stuff. Beaten everyone by a margin, except the enhancement shaman. Now I am raid affliction, and go to a raid style destro for trash and some bosses, so i under stand Aff suffers from some bosses. Im good on destro, but im really good on afflcition. On bosses like patchwerk and Iron concuil, I never been beat in affliction. Usally when i go Destro, I will be on add control or raid leading, so my dps i know suffers from that. Still, the numbers i see on the Enh Shamans and Aracane mages make me sick |

Anyways, it seems that arcane mages can now easily compete with equally geared destro locks, which is good. Usually they were lagging behind quite a bit. I don't have problems beating better geared ele shamans, unless the fight somehow favors them. Mages and ele shamans tend to do very good on Hodir/Vezax and on the twins though. |

i think the arcane tree's weird spell rotation is whats stopping a lot of Mages from getting these insane Dps boosts. Once the mage community pull's together a little and people spread the word, i think we'll see a lot more high dps Mages. However this is just my POV.

I haven't really noticed. Our mage in our guild i'd say only does 2/3 the damage what i do. Usually our damage meters start with either me or the boomkin battling, then the paladin, rogue then mage. I have seen some mages throw out some good damage, but to be honest any well played mage can out dps a warlock. I'm actually pretty happy warlocks aren't like rogues were back in the day,there's actually some competition going on. They have their weaknesses though, just like locks have their weaknesses. Our mage is a fire mage for the scorch buff, if ever he re-specs or he's not there, i have to spec affliction, which does around 3-400 less dps than destro. This may be a sign for affli/demo warlocks to be brought back into the spotlight. I have to say though, i do much prefer being destro as of now, but i have to do what's best for the raid, and if demo gets buffed, i'd be happy to give it a go again. Who says destro is always going to be the top spec? |
