Interesting idea about new shard system and aff
So let's pretend that soul drain replenishes shards in the new shard system. Let's also pretend that soul drain stays as the main nuke at the last 25% of a bosses hp in cataclysm for aff locks. Anyone else thinking of fun toys with empowered soulfire and a pretty high supply of shards?

When they introduce the new shard system you can gaurantee a talent tree revamp, including at least one talent geared around the new shard system. |

Casting Drain Soul in the middle of the fight would suck too given that we wouldn't be able to take advantage of the extra damage. We'd have to save it for the end of the fight, and even then with the Soul Burn cooldown we may not be able to use many of the shards we gain. Still, I am looking forward to the new play style and seeing what we can do with it. Quote:

I would suspect they will see the incentive to giving each tree the abilitiy to generate soul shards with something other than Drain Soul. Giving us a super ability to use every minute is probably something that Blizzard thinks will make our DPS interesting compared to others. Too bad the current measurement of our class performance is damage per second, not damage per minute. /sigh |

Preach on Pernicious. This is exactly what I extracted from the BlizzCon reports as well. As certain spells have some geneartion (Drain Soul, Shadowburn), and others are "freebies" (Decimation trigger), I again surmise that they'll make them more fun to use in the long run than 3 "big booms" per boss fight. Seriously, what's a 40K Conflagrate except an aggro gain and a single rotation spike in DPS during in an 8 minute fight? |
