My life in WoW right now..
I'm in a bit of a weird place right now and I feel the need to vent. The guild I was leader of for almost a year broke up last month. We'd been having some attendance issues, running 10/25 ICC flawlessly in 2 1/2 hours then no one showed up for night two and having started heroic modes in ICC10 but with difficulty getting a reliable group or two together. My account got hacked and the guild was disbanded, and rather than help me keep it together until I could get my account and characters back a couple of the officers decided to AFK for about a week. We lost a few key people to a couple of the premier guilds on the server, one of my officers transfered and name changed and we couldn't track down everyone... we went from 100+ members to less than 30. With summer time here and a new work schedule preventing me from raiding weeknights, me and a half dozen others decided to pack it up and move to a bigger server with more and better pugs and a better battlegroup for BGs. I just didn't have the energy to start back at square one and rebuild the guild. I'm finding it very hard to maintain my interest in raiding. I miss running with the guild. Half the pugs I've been in are bad, the others just mediocre. It always takes hours just to kill the first 6 bosses and most of the time the raid splits up as soon as we wipe a few times on anything. Simply put, I need 1 piece of gear and a token from ICC25 normal, both of which I glean from ICC10 Heroics. I've tried to get into some of the more popular 12/12 ICC25 runs but apparently my 6k gear score and 11k dps with no ICC buff isn't good enough, and the fact I'm 12/12 only in 10 man isn't good enough. The only good GDKP run I can buy my way into happens when I'm at work, so I'm limited to Saturday and Sunday raids. A few weeks I haven't raided at all, instead just soloed some old stuff, made some money, PvPed.... Frankly, I've got my KS title, I just wanted to kill LK on 25 man, get my last piece of my gear sanctified and replace my ToGC offhand and I'll be fine until Cataclysm. I'm so burnt out on ICC I don't care if I get any Heroic 277 loot, but I'd like to complete my 264 set, you know? My last guild broke up during Ulduar (when we were 11/12) so I didn't clear that, didn't clear ToGC25 (Blizzard: you tuned Anub Heroic too hard, but we know you know that)... I'd at least like to clear ICC25 while it's current content. |

Re: My life in WoW right now..
Sorry to hear that. We have quite a few good pugs on our server/faction, but you probably wouldn't want to server transfer just for that I guess. If really all you want is the LK kill and another token, just pay a top guild on your server like 10k gold or something for a spot and then you'll be 'done' as you say. Any guild like ours doing 11/12 HMs is done handing out tokens so they all go to off-off specs these days anyway. And if a week of H LK attempts is done, I am sure a quick LK kill is worth 10k as long as the guild knows you won't do stupid things with defile Although my guilds MAIN raids needs locks, I'm sorry to say for your sake that the pug I organize on Saturdays is overloaded with locks. And in any case, since we've added RubySanctum to that run and are 7/12 HMs down, we can't always reach LK in the pug as people are more interested in the 277 loot than the 271 from normal mode LK. |

Re: My life in WoW right now..
Im in a similar situation. My account was inactive and got hacked, blizz replaced most of my gear but I missed out on sooo much. My guild killed LK and I wasn't there, now instead of being a raider ((I was 80-90% attendance)) I'm now a casual who doesn't get to raid until stuff is on farm. It's hard to have stuff like this happen and then not be able to raid. PuGs are 90% fail with loot whores. Guilds mean commitment and people willing to wipe. PuGs are oh hey I got one piece I needed TOODLes. Its annoying and a pain. I want to raid but PVP is more of an option till I get the other few pieces of gear Im missing back through working in 10-25 man PuGs etc. |

Re: My life in WoW right now..
If you were inactive when hacked you had a 0% attendance for quite a while. I wrote a reply about how your guild don't appreciate what they have but they didn't have it then then I noticed that you cannot be inactive and attend 80% or even 1% of raids. I try to help up returned players but if they aren't proven contributors and I have my doubts I'd expect them to make the first move especially given that people who go inactive have a tendency to do it again and again. |

Re: My life in WoW right now..
Cursa, as a follower on these forums I am well aware of your prowess and skill. Have you thought about joining an already existing guilds. even established guilds can be short on leadership. Someone who is able to organize and lead raids could be a huge asset to a guild with regular members. Even if you dont start one you could find yourself de facto leader or at least raid lead. I understand that really what you want are a couple measly pieces of gear so you can confidently move forward to cata and your work schedule doesnt allow for much flexability. But there is the possibility that you could work something out with a larger guild which doesnt bother to plan 10s or maybe turn to the server forums and try to organize something through there. Anyways, i know how frustrating it can be to continually start over a break may be in order so it feels like less of a grind.

@Cursalock. a) How can you expect to NOT be burnt out on ICC? You sound like this: "Hey, I've done all of ICC, but when I go to do it all again, its just not fun." b) IMO, your situation is a product of pre-xpac doldrums more than anything (for you, your guild, and the majority of people playing). Accept it and either take a break or go fishing/pvp/solo crap/whatever. c) The reason why you didn't clear Ulduar/ToC is a consequence of the raids no longer being linear imo. Its just the way the game has developed. Looks like it'll be this way in Cat too. As soon as a new raid comes out, all the previous ones are no longer relevant to any gear-hogs...and that's 95% of people who raid. Quote:

What I really want is 25LK, second to that I'd like to clear ICC10HM to get the mount before Cataclysm, so there's your content and progression. I'd like a new off hand because I've had the one I have since last November, and who wouldn't want to have their last piece of sanctified Tier 10 instead of the one they simply bought for emblems?. There's nothing wrong with wanting gear, BTW. I'm not a gear score fanboy, I want the last few pieces of ICC level gear in order to play to the best of my ability when I do play, and I'm going to need them for hard modes. I'm not going to sit there in Dalaran looking shiny for people all day or making DPS videos to put on YouTube, I don't give a shit about that. Your post is a bit judgemental in that regard. Oh, and tonight I'm in a GDKP run that normally goes 10-11/12 with a couple of hard modes to boot, so wish me luck. If we've got a chance at a LK kill I'll sit there all night if I have to. Re: My life in WoW right now..
probably so...but just so ya know, i have relatively crap gear and still have every opportunity to play to the best of 'my' ability so I can't help but go back to the whole "getting gear for gear's sake". Quote:

Re: My life in WoW right now..
Cursalock, you have been on these forums even longer than I have been. I am close to leaving the game, it seems my realm has been taken over by console/ FPS'ers and I am done. I burned out on raiding long ago and miss the social aspect while growing increasingly resentful of the trade spam and poor attitudes in wow. I am not arrogant enough to say I am quitting, I am just done until wow becomes a true mmorpg again and with Starcraft2 coming out in a couple of weeks, my gaming time will still belong to Blizzard. |

Fine, maybe I should have said "I want to 'splode bad-ass DEEPS like a level 80 God!" instead of "play my best". I always play my best.... but another hundred spellpower and some more haste and crit would be lovely and give idiot raid leaders less of a reason to hum and haw over my heroic togc10 off hand like I'm some kind of pariah. I've even had to explain to a couple of these 'tards why it's better than the crap 251 ICC crit OH I've got in the bank and it gets a bit annoying is all. So is it about gear? Sure, but only as a means to an end.Point blank: I still want to raid but I just can't possibly commit to a regular raiding schedule. I've explored a few decent guilds but they all want a level of attendance I just can't commit to at this time. Backup raider doesn't seem to be much of an option. I'm a bit tapped out on ICC but it's mostly because I progressed to a certain point and then all of the shit with my account happened, if I'm not continuing to progress by doing hard modes and killing 25 LK it feels like a bit of a waste of time. Raiding is usually fun, but is it as much fun when you know there isn't even a possibility of new loot or progression and you're only there week after week to help other people you don't know get loot? I don't need emblems, I don't need money. You'd be lying if you said it was, at least not week after week doing the same content. |
