Re: Warlock New Spell Changes for MoP
So we get another dot (Malady) (edit #4: Corruption and Immolate replace Malady at a higher level) Immolate and Corruption are still mutually exclusive so: Destro will use Immolate and Bane of Doom ONLY. [edit: not Corruption since it is specific to Demo and Affliciton) Affliction Locks will use UA, Corruption, and BoD (edit: Immo is specific to Destro, edit: Malady is a low level spell replaced by Corruption). Demo will use Corr and BoD (edit: Immo is specific to Destro, Corr replaces Malady) Destro comments: Burning Embers puts a damaging dot to Destro locks. I like the Warlocky feel of this -- the whole trade-off of blood/life force for power. Anyone else notice the tool tip change on Conflag? It is no longer based on Immolate dot damage. Also, Destrohas an Auto Wand attack spell specific to the spec? Will this be equivalent to melee's white hits when not casting? Demo comments: Demo getting Demonic Fury generation from Drain Life seems like a quality of life change, so that Demo can still generate DF while regenerating health. I am not sure how this benefits the demo spec in any other way unless they un-nerf the damage component OR unless Demo will be able to off-tank?!? [Edit: I love this change: Soul Fire - Soul Fire now always critically strikes. In addition, the damage is increased by your critical strike chance.] [Edit #2: a bit confused. It looks like Immolate is a spec specific Destro Spell. If this is the case, Demo locks will use Corruption (since it is listed under Demo and Afflictions specs). I have edited my text above] So far I like what I see. On a different topic, has anyone noticed the major nerf to all DK strikes? I wonder what Blizz is thinking there?

Re: Warlock New Spell Changes for MoP
Have to wonder right now how all this "life for questionable effects" will work out it pvp. The effects arent bad really but they really seem to come with a hard price. |

Re: Warlock New Spell Changes for MoP
That's what beta is for. If people are simply getting slaughtered after losing 25% of their health in order to escape a CC, for instance, they'll reduce the cost. If people would rather take their chances getting beat up than using the movement speed boost because they feel they are losing as much or more health that way, then they'll change it. Curious how Felsteeds and Dreadsteeds qualify as "new". Are they being removed from the mount list and being added as spells? How would that affect achievements? |

Re: Warlock New Spell Changes for MoP
This is still something of a mess. I saw a blue post that said that soul link would "replace" health funnel which makes no sense at all. I also saw that fear is acquired during leveling yet you have a talent which is blood fear and the same blue post said it "replaces" fear.....I don't get it. Does that mean if you take that talent you loose a spell? I can see where blood fear would be an upgrade over fear but how does soul link relate to health funnel? I think they still have some work to do.

Re: Warlock New Spell Changes for MoP
@Rah: you make very valid points, and I am glad to see that you're not reaching for your tin foil hat like the people on mmo-c forums, they are all hailing these NOTES as "be all end all", so it's nice to see a calm dissection of this. The most important thing to note is that these are not even alpha notes, let alone beta, these are just the steps blizz is taking to normalize our output of damage with health pools and other classes. Stride on over to the mmo-c forums and you will see, so many classes appear to have gotten nerfed when what I think is happening is blizz is just adjusting certain coefficients so that each class is on a semi-level playing field. It's important that us locks don't lose our head about these changes, I am all for the "giving hp to gain spell/ability/mechanic" because that is really what sums up the lock class, we sacrifice our own well being, our own lives, the lives of our pets and any other means to gain success and an edge, if taking 25% damage means escaping and nuking, then damn it so be it! @Cursalock That is a great observation about the health/pvp issue, I can see it being an issue in lower hp pools, but I have been hearing talk of us having either really low hp (below 100k again) or high (near a million), so 25% of one mill is 750k, if people aren't doing that much damage (let's say maybe in mid-top level pvp gear people can hit like 100/150k crits) 25% won't be a huge handicap, whereas if people are crittin for 400/500k that can be an issue, likewise on the opposite end of the spectrum. And as for the felsteed/dreadsteed, I think they are making it a spell for account wide achievement pioneering, I could be way off though.

Re: Warlock New Spell Changes for MoP
True, but if it stays in the current state of the MoP talent tree, confalgrate will be independent of immolate.
