Returning 85...help.

Hi all,

I need some guidance. I stopped playing WoW shortly after Cataclysm. I got 85 but never really progressed beyond that.

I'm trying to decide the best way to gear myself and what would be the best path to follow. I'm not going to be in a hardcore raiding guild, but I would like to achieve some decent gear and be able to explore new content.

My armory link is: Nefar @ Shadowmoon - Game Guide - World of Warcraft

I like playing as demo and I'm leaning more towards PvE than PvP. Advice?

Change the demo spec, drop 3/3 bane and put those in 3/3 corruption. Dots even as demo are your staple. If it were me at your level, i would run heroic dungeons until ilvl for lfr, then suffer lfr for a few weeks to get at least some of the tier. Once you have that soloing becomes alot easier. As for other things, there are quest chains you need to do in hyjal and etc which at the end give you descent quality epics to help in the gearing. Firelands dailies also help.

more on your spec, soloing and questing its a good idea to drop deimation for aura of forboding as it has the stun to help keep mobs at bay. Also drop demonic rebirth for health funnel again for the soloing and questing specs. They are better survivability talents when alone.

I have been doing some soloing of old content for fun and profit with LFR gear so dont worry about going to far on your gear set. You just want to focus on getting what you can since you wont be raiding at least until mop.

Oh yea, drop the felguard glyph in favor of immolate while dungeoning and such. it wil be a better pull overall.

Re: Returning 85...help.

I'd disagree when it comes to bane vs imp corr. Looking at overall damage done and the times I have to reapply immolate when raiding I went back to taking bane again. The only fight I'd say it's worth it on is morchok and ultracion, every other fight there's either multidotting or target switching which puts bane over imp corr. It's also a major hassle to have a slow immolate when you go through mobs quickly. It's your highest DPCT spell (bar the doomguard) and it's pretty much always prio nr. 1 to get up.

As for gear I'd say grab the crafted PvP gear and run LFR and the new random HC's. Try to get some firelands or normal DS runs, will upgrade your gear quickly. Quite frankly gearing through the "proper" tiers just isn't worth it in my opinion, take too long.

I'm close to Dire acc. to gearing strategy. There're some quite decent cloak from Thrall questline and neckpiece available after 1rst 20min at questing for Guardians of hyjal (Molten Front)l (both 365, which is quite a step forward to get you or your gear resp ready for DS 5(wo)men and DS LFR. Don't know about your spare time and degree of boredom to do further questing there. ;)

DS 5 you'd best start with 'sorry, guys, restarting after long hibernation, plz don't kick^^' Quite a lot of groups really don't care, if addressed properly. You need 35X for DS 5 and 37x for DS 25 if I recall correctly.

You may want to look or ask in(to) trade channel, where 397 wrists and feet are sold for almost no (pixel) money due to the fact that almost anybody's alts are already equipped and chars are drowning in badges - seen 397 feet for less than 1k on my server. Don't try buying things during week ends^^.

Re: Returning 85...help.

Though i respect D1RE more than i can say, my suggestion on corruption was based on what the OP wanted, which was not raiding dps but rather personal exploration. Solo i believe he/she would be better suited improveing the dot over cast time on direct damage. If that is not what the OP was asking then i understand your stance on this.

Re: Returning 85...help.

Well, in general I see bane as a better talent really. As I said, immo is your highest DPCT spell and virtually every single time you fight something you want it up asap. Be it raiding, dungeons or just questing. For every time you cast immo you save some time and get it up faster which I believe is higher damage in the long run than 10% on one of your weaker dots.

Of course, this is personal taste and I'm not saying your suggestion is invalid, I have just found bane to be better both for DPS in raids and general question as it's less of a hassle to put up immo all the time.

Re: Returning 85...help.

I see, thank you for clarifying. I run demo a little different when i solo, i typicaly will dot 4 or 5 mbs while Mr axe man takes it all and walk away hiting a mining node or picking a flower. Guess thats why may be looking at it different.
