I highly doubt that will change as allowing it to proc off of white damage would basically make it a permenant buff...

Maj
It procs of normal crits too otherwise the uptime would be much lower.

Re: The Demonology Thread!

With 3.1 looming around the corner, I looked into a prospective build update for 0/56/15 and came up with this one. I just wish I didn't have to lose out on Imp Demonic Tactics.

Edit: the third major glyph would be the new Meta glyph, of course.

Talking Re: The Demonology Thread!

Wonderful post by Splot. I have been RAIDing a 00/41/30 spec for a few weeks now with this Talent Tree lineup.

My rotation is very simple - Just prior to the tank engaging I cast Demonic Empowerment -- Once the tank is engaged I start my fight rotation of Curse of Agony, Corr, Immo, Incinerate. This rotation is only changed on trash and AoE situations.

As a good measurement I ran a 10 man Vault last night in which I topped all DPSers except a hunter. And he and I were both at the 3200 DPS mark with only 27 points between our final DPS numbers. I would love to see it increase more and I am sure it will with more 10/25 man gear. Right now only one of my trinkets and my staff are such, everything else is heroics or vendor gear.

The main reason for my post here is to tell any of you locks out therethat have been struggling for higher end numbers to try this build and rotation. Once I did this it changed my whole playing experience. I thank Tupas and Adrob of Transgression (guild) on my server for their knowledge and insight. The game became fun again almost instantly, I was letting myself become obsessed with my lack of real DPS. That is no way to play!!!

As an aside, I can not wait for Dual SPec, so I can have my affliction back with which to farm!

Re: The Demonology Thread!

Why hit Demonic Empowerment before the fight starts? I normally wait until I get my DoT stack up before I hit DE, the thinking being that I want time for my FG to get a good Frenzy stack up to get the most out of it.

I wish I could answer that question, Leph, while we can't figure out why or how it is impacting the overall DPS we tested extensively on the "boss dummy" in IF and then did 2 Sethkk Halls runs. One using DE once the fight had begun and second using it before the FG engaged the enemy. In all our tests the DPS was slightly higher win DE was used prior to his initial attack and of course we renewed it as the CD expired each time. Granted these were perfectly timed rotations due to the lower levels. We did a real world in 10 man VoA with almost no difference but then again we had down DPS period with Arch charging about.

Re: The Demonology Thread!

Sweet guide it really explains the build to those that have any questions. I am a 0/41/30 build although I speced a lil diffrent in that I chose to max my imp and and only out 2 points into DE. Depending on the raid and boss like you stated sometimes my Fel Guard is not the best option and well I like the imp every so often.

As far as spell rotation it is pretty much the same one I use but I have been expermenting with COE. I have found that in 10 man its not viable to put it up as you loose some DPS. I do suggets that in 25 man you throw it out thier as the bonus benefits the whole group. In some cases thier may be more than one lock in the group if they got it up rock on with your bad self.

Again thanks for all the work ya put into the post

Huh, very interesting. Maybe the Demonic Empowerment buff to the FG's attack speed more than makes up for it by getting Frenzy stacked on the mob faster? I'll have to try this out myself this weekend.

Now to convince Bliz to let DE work on a Doomguard...

Sounds very plausible, I didn't really think of it like that...
