0/51/20 and why you need to be speccing it
So, I haven't seen too many people talk about the Meta spec. And when I do, it always includes taking 5/5 Demonic Pact and has people crying about poor DPS since it is utility. I am here to tell you about the lovely 0/51/20 spec I have come to pwn meters with (soon to be 3/51/17 in 3.1). The World of Warcraft Armory if you would like to look @ my gear and my spec. But basically it is your usual Meta build but with Demonic Pact taken out and put into Destro. Here is a WWS parse of my most recent Patchwerk: Wow Web Stats I was only 85 DPS short of nailing 6,000 DPS. Yes -- 6,000. You heard me right. My gear is far from having everything be best in slot also. I easily have 7 or 8 pieces I still need to upgrade, not to mention I still need exalted Hodir rep for shoulders. Glyphs are Immolate, Shadow Bolt, and Felguard. Some of this DPS is capitalizing on how stupidly awesome our Felguard now scales. He was 27% of my total DPS on that Patchwerk. My rotation is quite simple: maintain CoD and Immolate and fill the gaps with Shadow Bolt spamming. Use your Meta in conjunction with a Bloodlust. Also make sure you are making full use of your Immolate aura in situations where you can. It is over 1,000 DPS while it is active. The other thing I LOVE about this spec is the near zero micromanagement I have to do with my Felguard. With Fel Synergy he is 99% of the time "Fire and Forget". Oh and I suppose I should note why I don't take Demonic Pact. Its quite simple: it does not stack with ToW and will only overtake it @ over 2800 spell power. Why spec into something that will only be very very marginally better than ToW and doesn't have the 100% uptime that ToW has? I am also pretty excited about the 3.1 changes. I love how they are working Soul Fire into our rotation -- and the new glyphs being added will be very nice as well. I just thought I would share this with you guys, as it is just CRAZY DPS and no one seems to know / talk about it. :-) |

perhaps a good switch for me for my duel spec option? I'm shopping for a new spec and if this is as good as you say it is, it looks like a lot of fun. I've always wanted to use Meta. How does this spec hold up in PVP and raids specifically? You never really said in what format these numbers were coming from. How is trash versus bosses? I'm trying to work when my affliction (altered after patch, obv) would be best, and when this build would be best to use. |

GZ on imba dps  This is what I plan on testing, when 3.1 hits (if it won't change alot from PTR). Not sure if I should go for Aftermath Destructive Reach or Cataclysm (2 points in each). I guess reach, and reduced threat is needed. Rotation will be CoE, Corruption, Immolate and SB --> refresh as needed and pop CD when able. Glyphs I'll be going for are Glyph of Corruption Glyph of Felguard Glyph of Life Tap (since I have 4set bonus) Can't wait to test it! (but I guess I have to :p ) |

Geez man, impressive stuff. I recently went to a 00/41/30 as a Demonology/Destruction spec and have loved every bit of it. I can't believe how hard the felguard hits. I'm really impressed by your spec and I may give it a go for today when I can get on. What gets me though, how would you compare incinerate to shadow bolt? As of late, and from personal experience, shadow bolt has seemed to fade into the background while incinerate has become the forerunner. I was just wondering your feedback on that. Also, before you cast your sequence, would you hit Meta before your first sequence, or would you "preheat the oven" and cast a sequence first and then Meta? I'm incredibly encouraged by your spec. as I love my felguard so much already. My gear is far from adequate, but since going to my current spec. and using the felguard, I haven't seen anything but good things. I may wait abit, especially tonight when I get my t7 chest, to try your spec. out until I get better gear. Looks good though! Good job! Jake |

I've been running a similar build, and I'm just curious why you decided to take Demonic Empathy over Demonic Pact. Also, I'm interested to see your proposed 3.1 talent spec if you don't mind linking it. |

Hmm, I'd tweak it a little: http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?warl...0&version=9614 Decimation is too important IMO. Especially for Meta, early info I've seen says that below 35% meta>charge>SB(decimation)>Soulfire>SB>Soulfire... until dead. I'm not sure I can justify points in Imp Demonic Tactics either. Now it doesn't buff Demonic Empathy, so it's got to be a limited return on the points. I chucked one in Shadowfury, but you could toss that on ImpCoAgony just as well. Since I'm not a raider, I'm not sure this will work for me. I may not be able to get the buff any other way, so i might need to go 3/51/17 or whatever.
