I enjoy granting the DP buff to the raid and it replaces the ToW that we rarely have anyway.
Great Necro!! LOL

JK, I had one of our locks specced into DP for the raid buff. But I only did it when we had 6+ casters in the raid. I don't have the math to back it up, but from consistent WWS reviews if you don't have enough casters to make it worth using, just spec into destro or affliction and bring your overall dps up. Just an example, if 300 spellpower raised dps by casters by 100, and your 1000 dps lower than the destruction spec. You'd need almost 10 casters just to = the overall raid dps you could possibly be putting out if your specced to the destro spec.

While I know thats very minimal, it's just a short example. I'd definitely take destruction (suppression or not) as a dual spec to use if your light on casters. Meta/Ruin is sort of pigeon holed to a heavy caster 25 man raid, Anything less is uncivilized.

Don't sell DP that short, it's better than that.

First of all, it's not 1,000 DPS lower personally unless you are in T8+all best in slot. Bump down to full T7 and we're talking more like 500 DPS under destro. Unless Algalon is on farm, you are talking about a much smaller dps drop than 1k.

Second, don't discount the DPS gain the shaman gets by throwing a DPS totem like Searing instead of a spellpower buff - for an Ele shaman that can be 400-500 DPS gain right there. Almost everybody leaves that out of the calculations for some reason.. but once factored in DP looks much better, and it starts to come down to 3 casters being break even.
