I'm finding a 9 / 21 / 21 build the best all around build for me.
*** Please note the dates when reading this thread. Information and advice may not be as relevant with changes in the game to date. *** Wassup my evil brethren?!   I needed to find an all around spec that would encompass PvP , Pve pharmin :( , and the highest instances in the game, and after months of different builds and PvPrank 10 I definetly say that 9/21/21 fits like a glove.   In PvP I needed to keep burst best i could.... I know i needed at least 21 in destruction. (Double 2k+ crits w/sbolts is sweet). Range is also very important, and sitting down to drink is not always viable with people spawning endlessly from grave yards. I really miss my affliction range here, especially vs hunters, but i make do. I do miss my felhunter as well, the extra stealth detection is always fun! ![]()    Pve pharmin is doable with any build, but i wanted to maximize dps and/or cut downtime. Shadowbolts are nice for this, but drinking is counter productive. Dots are highly eff, but took to long to kill.    High end raiding we usually find our partner in crime sitting there like a bump on a log giving you and 4 others a small stam boost if you stay in range. overall usefullness on a scale of 1 to 10 is 1, with a far stretch for 2 if you are in the main tanks party. Warlocks also Shadowbolt quite alot on these raids. Water is fine between trash mobs, but on boss's you will find yourself gasping for mana and hp's (tap drain life DOES NOT cut it). Pets are very nice for pvp,but not worth the imp's weight on a raid.    The strong point of this build is endless mana without having to wear intellect or mana regen items. In Pve this gives you endless fear kiting of mobs(no diminishing returns) Demonic embrace for me is 500 more hp's as well, I currently have 5014 hp's,4k mana and +423dam gear with mixed epics and rares. Endless mana vs a raid boss is invaluable to the raid, with heavy life regen to make sure you stay up (much better then the bump on a log imp pet). Fully buffed on a raid I'm regening life at 200+/4sec's and 150/4sec's with no buffs.    The 2 points i have in suppression you could probably float anywhere, but i like max duration fears for pharming multiple elites at same time, and getting death coil or shadowburn resisted in PvP blows. This spec is also pretty easy on the shards if you have the free vw trinket.    As with any build you will always give up something you wouldn't mind having but endless mana with no need for drinking means high sustained dps and survivability. Just thought I would share this build if someone in the same frustrating spot as me was looking for a "cover as many bases as you can" spec.    Haytrid-Deathwing  60 - Warlock Rank 10  Proud member of VILEÂ

I agree compleatly. Well 7/21/21 with 2 points for anything else. Currently I have two in the AOE stunning one, but not sure if it is worth it. |

Same here....7/21/23 for better AoE....last two points can be argued about, but overall im happy for PvE and Raiding. Good to hear its also usefull in PvP as i dont do that ol

OK Im interested , I have been a SM/Ruin Lock for some months now To the novice that's your basic "eggs and Bacon" build albeit slighty tweakable to your own style of play of coarse . But here is how my version looks, 30points in Affliction. The mandatory 5 in improved corruption speaks for itself cause its now an instant cast and can be spammed whilst on the run! , 2/2 improved drain soul and 2/2 improved life tap and 1/5 drain life see's out the second tier of talents, 1/1 Amplify curse and 5/5 Fel concentration is my 3rd line, Next is 1 of the main reasons i love this build and that is 2/2 NIGHTFALL how sweet it is when your mid battle wailing on some mob when this little baby proc's and dont worry 4% is enough to see at least 1 proc per encounter ,I've had up to 3 proc's add deathcoil and shadow burnand its Lights Out! leaving the other bloke wondering what just happend as i rumage thru his pokets before skipping off down the path hand in hand with my succy whistling the theme song to the wizard of oz ! ........lol oops a little carried away but nightfall has given me such fun over the months a special mention was deseverd ,2/2 Grim reach,1/1 siphon life which bring us to a cross road!, So far 21 points spent and an enticing opportunity to add a new spell to our hotbar's COE (curse of exhaustion) at face value this looks like a very handy spell what in truth it does is waste valuable talent points in my opinion ,if we were to go ALL in on this one and invest 5 talent points our net results are an instant spell thats takes a fair chunk of mana and it only reduces there base speed by 20% , so still traveling along nicely at 80% albeit for 12 secs my enemy hasnt really been dealt a big enough blow to satisfy my blood fetish not to mention an instant decurse from any1 equipt caster and your max'd out COE isnt worth yesterday's news paper ,Therefore i go back a couple tiers and put 3/3 improved Curse of agony and finally another point in improved drain life making its new count 2/5, Finally to end my Affliction commitment i go 5/5 shadow mastery but thats were i stop! thats right no dark pact. Then over to Destruction and i go 5/5 improved shadow bolt , 5/5 Bane , 5/5 Devastation , 1/1 shadow burn, 2/2 intensity , 2/2 Destructive Reach, And finally 1/1 Ruin ...... There you have RoadRager's version of the bacon & eggs SM/Ruin build which has provided me with months of fun from PVP to 5man ,15man up to 40man raids/grps , As i said previously Tweaking any build to suit your style of play is what its all about , Hence me posting on this thread im interested to see how this 9/21/21 build feels, How ever could you post exactly were you put your talent points as i find instructions with a KISS( keep it simple stupid) are more over gonna get people in the postion your explaining with out the human error thingy getting in the way as it does so much.....thx

I have pretty much the same thing except the 4 points you allocated to AE, i put 2 into suppression and 2 into searing pain although i was tempted to put all 4 into SP. I did this because on the high end raids, solo pharming and pvp i can count the number of times i AE on 1 hand for an entire month. With suppression and the pvp reward gear to reduce oppents resistances by 40 I pull off full duration fears quite often (make sure you DO NOT DD unless you want to break fear). Also kinda nice to go to felwood, pick up an elite pet and smash things ![]() Haytrid - deathwing 60 Warlock Proud member of VILE

I've tried alot of talent builds, and 7/21/21 +2 definately suits my play style. I definately recommend giving it a try. (DS your VW and lifetap happily away while burning stuff down with Ruin etc; and depending on the situation often ending fights with full mana and health)

Taking 2 elites at same time and finishing full mana and life makes pharming fun instead of a chore. Being able to Pvp in the BG's with out having to bum water is always a plus too ol Having 200+regen a tick on raids is waaay kool B) Only regret i have is affliction range...Nightfall although nice is incredibly unrealiable. I thought i would miss siphon life alot.... but i don't! Happy hunting folks! |

Haytrid, could you please post a link on your build and explain to me what DD is. All your regen, does it come from your EQ or something else? I guess you will have kind of a laught when you read this but if you don't ask you will never learn
