[general] 20/41/0 vs 7/43/11

Hope this is good under the new talent discussion rules...

Im trying to decide between:

7/43/11
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

and

20/41/0
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

I know 7/43/11 is classic, but i heard 20/41/0 mentioned and started thinking about it. I'm looking for general play style, but there will not be heavy raiding. Mostly some leveling for a couple levels in outland (always with an RL friend), and pvp and instance running, but no big raids.

discuss!

I'm going to allow this, but please PLEASE everyone try to use the format at the bottom of the sticky thread. Right below the line "Simply copy + paste then replace the text sections with the information."

20/41/0 is a niche PvP spec, and not very common. I used it for a while, but prefer 5/41/15 and its variations for the additional burst of Shadowburn.

7/43/11 is the best hybrid PvP/PvE build, imo.

Re: [general] 20/41/0 vs 7/43/11

ok i will use that format next time. ty.

it seems to me that a shadowburn spec has more burst, and probably more dps but a build like 20/41 has more survibality in affliciton and less down time, which is important because i have to get a couple more levels before 70. I think it would work better than a shadowburn build because I am only really playing bg's, questing with a buddy or doing 5 mans, tha battles are shorter than full raids so long spells like shadowburn matter less.

right now im just dotting, life tap, and maybe one shadowbolt then drain life.

Yes. Though I'd take only 1/3 Mana Feed (works perfect for me), and 2/3 Demonic Resilience.
In my own spec I went 1 step further, dropped 10% Lifetap for the last point in DResi. ;)

Re: [general] 20/41/0 vs 7/43/11

question, isn't demonic resillience a stronger talent compared to demonic tactics? It seems like it is.. DT is for crits only.

I like the 7/43/11 build tree a lot.

What i question is 3/3 Demoic Reslliance & 3/5 Demonic Tactics vs. 1/3 Demoic Resilance and 5/5 Demoic Tactics.

DT has been heavily nerfed right? So doesn't that make DR the superiour talent.

Not to mention that 3/5 DT vs. 5/5 DT is just 2% difference in Critical Hit. Depending on gear you wear you should be able to compensate the difference.

Any thoughts to the contrary?

One is offensive, one is defensive, i dont see how they can be easily compared. apples to oranges.

I'm going DT because I still need to level, but if i was only doing pvp i would go DR.

Shadowburn is instant, not a long cast-time spell. It's very useful in BG's as a finisher or as a source of on-the-move damage when kiting.

Its true that DR is defensive, however isn't having the chance to increase your resistance to crit by 3% AND a full 15% less pet damage better than just having 2% more Crit Chance.

IMO benefits outweigh the costs.
