[Raiding] How to improve myself?
Hello, im a new user of the forums and I see a lot of experienced players here, so I want to ask some pointers...
Im not a total noob, as im raiding kara/gruul (which are pretty much on farm status) we do occasional ZA but still struggle at 3rd boss there and we have started on maggy and tk, will try ssc soon aswell, what I want to know what you think of me using 0/21/40 at this point or would UA be better? I currently bang 5-6k crits with my sb on bosses thou I have somewhat low hit rating, I still manage to be in the top5 dps on bosses and easily the 1st on trash, my gear is quite a mixup of S1-S3 pvp and T4 and various pve rep items and drops, dont have a full pve set due to bad luck on drops and rolls, I am aiming to get the new badge loot robe when we get the anvil done on our server, all tips welcome... |

if yoour stats are not around 20% tool tip crit, 1k +shadow damage and 202 hit, then no, dont switch to a demonic sac build just yet.

Re: [Raiding] How to improve myself?
This is a difficult post to try to categorise - do you need help with your gear? Your Spell rotation? Your Build?
Bottom line is that as Mr Bad points out there are certainly minimum gear levels required for Ruin to out-dps UA and unless you meet those requirements its certainly better to stick to one of the several popular UA builds. Looking at your armory then I can definately say that 94 hit rating is too low for 21/40 however as you are a tailor then you can get the Spellstrike/Frozen Shadoweave to boost your PvE gear quite nicely. If you really want to go 21/40 I would suggest reading through Mr Pimp's gear guide to see what upgrades you can reasonably grab in your PvE Sojurns. |

Re: [Raiding] How to improve myself?
Ah yeah Theleb, sorry for my post being a bit messed up, posted it hastely from work earlier today, but yeah was kinda pointed towards spec issue mainly...
But if the req's for 21/40 are really so strict I will forget that spec for now (since I only meet the spelldamage req atm) and go for UA, just need to work out a good and effective spell rotation then. Oh and yeah I have seen pimp's gearing guide (which I think is outstanding work) but as I told before, I have had very bad luck on drops/rolls for good stuff and therefore have so much pvp gear still on my pve set, luckily I have saved myself a fair amount of BoJ's for the coming ;) Thanks |

Re: [Raiding] How to improve myself?
Have a look through some of the Afflicion threads for your spell rotation, basically:
Trash Curse of Agony (if it will live longer than 24 seconds) UA > Corr > SB Spam until refresh Boss CoD (switching to Curse of Agony if it will die in less than a minute AND If not on curse duty) UA > Corr > SiLI > Immo > SB Spam until refresh Your own personal useage will of course be something you learn with experience and a lot of folks develop their own rotations but that represents a good starting point. Refresh DoTs as they expire (not before) and if presented a choice about which DoT to refresh first then choose the one with the highest damage/cast time (Curse > Corr > UA > Immo > SiLi if I recall correctly). Good Luck with future drops! ![]() |

Re: [Raiding] How to improve myself?
Spellstrike pants will really help your dps get them and use the T4 shoulders to keep the bonus over merc glad this will greatly improve your hit. Also you could think about a 0/40/21 spec when you hit cap yourself, this spec will give you a 10% bonus chance for crit for hitting the ever important 25% (5% Tactics, 5% devistate). You also gain the damage from DK as well as the 10% damage from MD. This is a way to switch from affliction earlier and get used to playing a more destro based playstyle.

Re: [Raiding] How to improve myself?
Thank you for all your tips, so I went and made myself an UA based build 44/0/17 http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IEMr0MftVtcoZxx0xM which is more or less towards support/curse duty lock and I was more than happy with the results we had last night on Solarian I topped the dps chart and below me was a 21/40 lock that was supposed to have better raiding gear than me.
