Levelling and PvP Talent Build
My talents are placed as follows:
7/0/18 Affliction Imp Corruption 5/5 Soul Siphon 2/2 Destruction Improved Shadow Bolt 5/5 Bane 5/5 Devestation 5/5 Intensity 2/2 Note: I plan to put a talent into Ruin. But I often hear the drain tanking victory stories and I'm very jealous to say the least. Though I've never had problems with this build, (to which people would probably say, why change it if so?) I was wondering if there was a buid that could harness the power of a warlock to the ultimate. I want to be able to use the warlock to the last drop ![]() PVP: I've never had any problems with PVP. I've gotten first 4 times in Battleground, and 2nd, 3rd, many many times. I want to be a PVP oriented lock. V.S. Hunter I have the most problems with these biatches they call, hunters. I usually go with the Seduce the hunter fear the pet technique but usually the Fear resistance of the pet is too much for me to handle. I get aim shotted, and after a couple more pet + hunter blows and I'm down. As a warlock, I'm gonna try to replace the importance of Spirit with Stamina. V.S. Mage No problem whatsoever, when I go against a mage, I could shut my monitor off for a couple of seconds and win. V.S. Rogue Again, no problem. If the rogue stealths, I use rain of fire to uncloak him, and I do a couple of jumping maneuvers to ecscape and I fear, Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immolate,....Fear again, Nuke, win. If he's not stealthed, much easier. now, if he gets the jump on me, im dead. There's really nothing you can do to survive against a surprise jump against a rogue. At level 29, 900 one shot crits....Undefinably sad V.S. Shaman Fear, make pet kill totems, DoT shammy, Nuke, Nuke, Nuke. The surprise damage of the Nukes usually SUPRISE kills em' before he can heal. V.S. Pally May arguablly be the easiest battle. Even if he bubbles and heals, I just do what i do to everybody else and they are downed V.S. Priest + Shadow Priest Priest are looked at as weak in PVP by many people, "being an easy kill", I beg to differ. The surprisingly powerful DoTs and spells they offer can be a pain. Plus Healing. Everybody loves that. V.S. Warrior Piece of cake. V.S. Warlocks Me, being an undead, can destroy most warlocks, Will of the Forsaken is a real lifesaver. Fear---> DoT---->Nuke. Now i've givin an overview of my PVP experiences because I want you to rate my talent build and see if I can improve it. Thanks A Lot and Happy Ganking. |

Re: Oddly Rare Talent Build
Wait until you hit 70 would be my advice - it all changes then so I would concentrate on levelling and then reprising your opinion on what classes are "easy" because your world is going to be turned upside down (This will probably also happen sooner rather than later if you meet any experienced players in BG's but I'll leave those suprises unspoken - it all adds to the fun)
Regarding Levelling - you've picked the most inefficient build, and the one that places most reliance on gear (Destruction). That said if you wish to level that way then by all means do so but you'll reach 70 much faster and easier as affliction - its your game, play it your way. If you wish to do destruction then continue as you are - the build is fine. If you want honesty however, affliction is far more powerful because the available gear predicates simply around +damage and surviveability (as do the talents) rather than making use of the scarce +crit drops which offer very little mileage against seriously geared rogues/Warriors/shaman (the burst damage from their more effective scaling is going to be quite a shock). You also posted in the wrong forum so I'll move this appropriately and change the title to better reflect the topic of the thread. Last edited by Theleb; April 16, 2008 at 07:45 PM. Re: Levelling and PvP Talent Build
Thank you for replying. So should I change my talents to deep Affliction??? Where should I place my talent points??? I really didnt experience any leveling difficulties, bur is that because I haven't done Affliction yet??? Again, Thank you.

Re: Levelling and PvP Talent Build
I'm affliction too. It's arguably the best leveling build. Makes sense too. What are warlocks best at? Dots!!!
But you're more pvp oriented so i'm not sure. Here's my to be build. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...10000000000000![]() I might switch specs later on too. I heard felguards were awesome so might go into demonology later on, but for now, I'm happy with affliction. |

Re: Levelling and PvP Talent Build
Affliction allows you to potentially come up with something like this (assuming level 34):
Warlock Talents Minimum Required Level: 34 Required Talent Points: 25 Affliction Talents - 25 point(s) Suppression - rank 2/5 Improved Corruption - rank 5/5 Improved Drain Soul - rank 2/2 Improved Life Tap - rank 2/2 Soul Siphon - rank 2/2 Improved Curse of Agony - rank 2/2 Amplify Curse - rank 1/1 Grim Reach - rank 2/2 Nightfall - rank 2/2 Empowered Corruption - rank 3/3 Siphon Life - rank 1/1 Curse of Exhaustion - rank 1/1 Which looks like this: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft You won't be doing as much nuking in PvP but you have Siphon Life, Instant Corruption Improved Curse of Agony, Imp Curse of Weakness/Shadow Embrace against melee, and here's the cool part - the more people you DoT...the more instant shadowbolts you get. Your drain life becomes a very potent survival tool and the whole package is very mana-efficient. Its not everyone's ideal spec and if you enjoy playing destruction then don't let anyone tell you otherwise - its your money at the end of the month so find something that works for you ![]() |

Re: Levelling and PvP Talent Build
I have also gone affliction for leveling, and will probably either stay with it at 70 or go with demonology (for the felguard
). I have done fine in battlegrounds with my current spec of 18/5/11.Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft I have done a spec without Shadowburn but really missed it so I went back to it. It is a nice instant nuke to have, especially when someone is running away from you. The biggest surprise to me is how often Nightfall procs. I have had 2 or 3 back to back instant Shadowbolts, not mana efficient but it kills enemies very quickly. Ultimately, do what makes you happy. I will probably never go Destruction unless I decide to raid, I love dotting people up and standing back to watch them run around on fire. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Levelling and PvP Talent Build
Hmmm....Nightfall sounds rather yummy...How many talent points do you need to invest into which tree to get it? And also, I'm really wanting Ruin...
